Adding contents of a larger publication to the database

I'm holding your submission to add a NONFICTION publication with the title "Wilson Tucker: A Writer's Life and Bibliography" written by Jon D. Swartz (which I'm assuming is you based on your chosen user name). In this case, research has shown that this was published in a magazine titled Paperback Parade. Contents of a magazine must be added to the record for the publication, which is currently not in the db. That is done by first creating a record for the magazine. I will do that for you based on the information you provided and the research I have uncovered. If you have any questions concerning this, please respond here on your talk page. Here is the ISFDB record for the publication, which shows the essay as one of its contents. Because this is not a speculative fiction magazine, it is handled as a non-genre magazine, and only spec-fic related contents should be added (in case you're thinking of updating the record to add other contents.) Again, I had to reject your submission to add this magazine content. As I said above, you have to create a record for the publication (in this case, the magazine), and then add the content to the publication record. I will do that for you again. Mhhutchins 17:34, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

It's That Time Again 3

Submission adding this record was accepted, but the following changes were made for the record to conform to ISFDB standards:

  • Changed the title field from It's That Time Again 3 to It's That Time Again 3!: Even More Stories of Old Time Radio as it appears in the OCLC record. If this is not the title as given on the book's title page, please update the record.
  • Changed the date field from "2006-00-00" to "2006-03-01" based on the Amazon listing. If there is another date specified in the book itself, please update the record.
  • Changed the page count field from "240" to "236" based on the OCLC record. If the last numbered page is different, please update the record.
  • Changed the publisher field from "Bear Manor Media" to "BearManor Media" which is how the publisher is given in most sources (and its own website.) If the publisher given on the title page is different, please update the record.
  • Changed the binding/pub format field from "Paperback" (not used in the ISFDB) to "tp" which stands for trade paperback (a large size softcover pub), based on the Amazon listing showing it to be 9" tall. If the book is 7" or less, update the record to "pb".
  • Changed the ISBN field from "ISBN 10: 1-59393-035-6" to "1-59393-035-6". Only give the ISBN itself without designating which type. The system will automatically generate the type.
  • Removed the quotation marks around the story titles. Unless they are authorial and not a book designer's choice, quotation marks should not be entered. I am assuming these are the only two spec-fic stories in the publication, and will note that in the record. If they are not spec-fic, they should be removed from the record and deleted from the database.
  • Changed the content page number field to show only the starting page of the story, not the range of pages containing the story, e.g. "43" instead of "43-56".

All of these changes are based on the information given on the Help page for entering publications. The entry of each field is explained in detail.
