Today's submissions
Welcome to the family! A couple of comments on your submissions. Most of the entries were exactly what we're looking for, with two requests: (1) We like to include at least the month with the publication date (e.g., "2011-11-00"), so that authors with multiple books in one year get them listed in the proper chronological order. (2) The "binding" codes we use are "hc" (hard cover), "tp" (trade paperback), and "pb" (smaller size paperback, up to 7" x 4.25"). I'll change the "paperback" bindings that you entered into the appropriate code when I can, but Amazon doesn't include the sizes for all of these books, so I can't always tell whether to use tp or pb -- so I'll have to leave those blank. Could you either re-edit those records to correct that, or respond to this note (respond here, I'll see it) as to which are pb size and which are tp size? I'll also change "The Howling" series from a "Publication Series" to a "Title Series". The distinction between these catches folks by mistake (if the series is based on the story content, it's a title series; if the series is based on some detail of the publication format, such as "Harlequin Romance" or "Ballantine Adult Fantasy", then it's a publication series). Thanks, Chavey 05:24, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- My error. I was able to find sizes on all of the books on Amazon, and corrected them to "tp". I was also able to get retail prices on these books, and added those. I also added covers and cover artists for most of them, and I see that you (apparently) added the missing ones. I had changed "Pain Cages" from novel to collection, and see that you (apparently) added the contents to that. Thanks for those additions, and I hope you'll have the chance to get to the other updates suggested by my colleagues below. Chavey 14:07, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
13 Drops of Blood
I have the submission to add the above title on hold. Checking Amazon, it is a collection, not a novel. Since you're the author, you should know! :-)) Anyway, if, instead of choosing "New Novel" under the Editing Tools you choose "New Collection" then the editing window would give you the opportunity/option of adding the Contents. What better way to fill up/out your [page]! A small note, we use pb for paperback [as in mass-market], tp for trade paperback [bigger than mass-market] and hc for hardcover. For your first two submissions, I added the price [from Amazon] and an image [same source]. Would you happen to know who did the covers for them?
- How to respond to the first posting isn't always obvious. Click on the (EDIT) button to the right which will open a window in which you can type a response. Use a colon to indent, one extra for each response [creates a 'ladder' effect]. Above the window is a row of odd little icons. The second last one, looks like a squiggle, when clicked after a response, will sign/date stamp the response. Thanks for joining our little project and contributing. --~ Bill, Bluesman 05:27, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
Best New Zombie Tales, Volume 2
There are several problems with the submission that added this pub. I accepted it as is and ask that you update it to make the following corrections:
- "Best New Zombie Tales" is a title series, not a publication series. Both it and the number will have to be removed from the publication record. You can update the title record to add the series and number to it.
- The price field must include the currency. In the case, I'm assuming this is US dollars, so the field should be "$9.99".
- Pub format field: "tb 5.25 x 8" is not a standard entry. If this is a trade paperback with those dimensions, it should simply be entered as "tp".
- The link you gave was to the Amazon's "Look-Inside" image. But that can be easily corrected. Remove all characters in the URL going backwards from the final period (before the "jpg" extension) until you reach the next period. So http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51lyQkiyidL._BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-sticker-arrow-click,TopRight,35,-76_AA300_SH20_OU01_.jpg would become http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51lyQkiyidL.jpg. (Just copy this URL and place it into the Image URL field.)
I've also adjusted to synopsis to be more objective about the contents. Thanks. Mhhutchins 07:00, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
Okay. Thanks for the help!
Introduction credit
I had to reject the submission that gives you author credit for this title (only Matt Hults should be credited in the title field). Introducers are given credit by creating a content record for their introduction. You should update the publication record: click on "Edit This Pub", then under the Contents section click on "Add Title". In the set of fields that pop up, enter the page number of the introduction, its title (if it's simply "Introduction", it should be entered as "Introduction (Anything Can Be Dangerous)", leave the date field blank (the system dates the content the same as the pub record), use the drop down menu to change the entry type to "ESSAY", leave the length field blank, enter your name in the Author1 field, and then click the "Submit Data" button. Dating of contents
I accepted the submission that updated this pub by changing the dates of the stories, but some of the dates are suspicious. You date "Fallen" as 2011-08-00, although the book was published in 2011-06-00. Same thing with "Humpy and Shrivels" which you date as 2011-09-06. If the stories first appeared in this collection, then they should have the same date as the collection. Thanks. Mhhutchins
