I did mistype the ISBN, yes -- it should be 9781999890704 (and the book is 350 pages according to Amazon) --Vasha 14:21, 17 January 2018 (EST)

Author initials

In a R&S discussion, Ahasuerus has explained what he thinks the current policy is about author intials without periods. Do you have any comments? --Vasha 10:59, 28 January 2018 (EST)

Answered, I think, your inquiry about Allison Rides the Rapids on my "My Messages" page. MLB 05:04, 30 January 2018 (EST)

Half of the Extinct? Entries Don't Show Up!

Hello! There were a lot more stories in 'Extinct?' I hit the 'add title' and kept adding full records... Then I submitted the complete listing. Only the ones for which I did not have to 'add title' appear. Are they gone forever? That was a lot of typing. How do I add the other half of the anthology's stories?

I do thank you for your time and efforts.

I'm not sure what happened, but those were the only ones in your submission. To add more stories, go to the publication record and use the "Edit This Pub" on the left column. -- JLaTondre (talk) 18:53, 2 February 2018 (EST)

publisher name correcion

Could you please change "Editorial Optima" to "Editorial Óptima" --thanks. --Vasha 17:29, 3 February 2018 (EST)

Done. -- JLaTondre (talk) 17:34, 3 February 2018 (EST)

Killer Genesis / Opium Hunter

Sorry about the bad picture. The ISBN 0890836787 brought up "Opium Hunter" instead of "Killer Genesis" everywhere on the web except WorldCat. Someone must have mixed them up on sites like Amazon, eBay, and GoodReads and it just spread.

No problem. -- JLaTondre (talk) 20:40, 9 February 2018 (EST)

author correction

Sebastiá Roig should be Sebastià Roig. Thanks. --Vasha 11:10, 10 February 2018 (EST)

Done. Should the author's language be Catalan instead of Spanish? -- JLaTondre (talk) 11:12, 10 February 2018 (EST)

Robert Anton Wilson

I've been adding books to Robert Anton Wilson and did two edits on non-fiction books that were listed as novels. However, the Cosmic Trigger section (a non-fiction autobiographical series) is also listed as fiction - is there any way to quickly shift all three books (with numerous editions) to non-fiction? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Donnachadelong (talkcontribs) .

No, but I'll take care of it. -- JLaTondre (talk) 18:04, 11 February 2018 (EST)
I see that several of them have been primary verified. I will check with the primary verifiers. -- JLaTondre (talk) 18:06, 11 February 2018 (EST)

The Anatomy of Monsters

Hi--can you explain why someone (you?) changed the date of the title record of The Anatomy of Monsters to 2018-02-16, the same as the date of the published title? No book titled Anatomy actually appeared, so why is it given this date? --Vasha 18:09, 9 March 2018 (EST)

You can use "Recent Edits" under "Other Pages" to find past edits (though it can be painful if more than a few days past; there is an open feature request to make it searchable). In this case, it was Stonecreek. I don't know why, but we all make mistakes or see things out of sequence. I have changed it back. -- JLaTondre (talk) 19:17, 9 March 2018 (EST)

Updated your verified publication Rise with story lengths and some info about prior publications from the author's website. --Vasha 18:38, 26 March 2018 (EDT)

Will do. Also, misunderstood your edit to Robert Heinlein presenta Puerta al verano et Amos de títeres. Figured it out after rejecting & will fix. Sorry about that. -- JLaTondre (talk) 15:53, 31 March 2018 (EDT)
Done. -- JLaTondre (talk) 15:55, 31 March 2018 (EDT)
Yeah, I figued there were crossed wires. Everything is correct now.
By the way, what would happen if I edited the title of a Publication Series to be the same as that of another Publication Series? I notice there are several cases of multiple pub. series tghat are the same thing under slightly different names (like E.D.H.A.S.A.'s Nebulae) and they should be merged. --Vasha 16:18, 31 March 2018 (EDT)
The software won't let you change a pub series name to be the duplicate of another pub series. I also don't believe there is a way to merge pub series. I think the only way is to edit the individual pubs, but that would be a better question for Ahasuerus. -- JLaTondre (talk) 17:02, 31 March 2018 (EDT)
I see you changed two to "Edhasa Pocket". It allowed you to do that as there wasn't one called that, but it didn't merge them. It created two different ones with the same name. I will fix. -- JLaTondre (talk) 17:05, 31 March 2018 (EDT)

Planned Project Scope Expansion

(I am leaving this note on the Talk pages of some of the more active editors to make sure that we are not missing anything. If you have been following this Rules and Standards discussion and agree with the proposal, please ignore this note.)

As per this discussion, ISFDB:Policy#Rules_of_Acquisition is about to be expanded to include:

  • Speculative fiction webzines, which are defined as online periodicals with distinct issues
  • Special speculative fiction issues of non-genre webzines
  • One time speculative fiction anthologies published on the Web

If you believe that this scope expansion may cause unforeseen and/or undesirable consequences, please share your thoughts on the Rules and Standards page. TIA! Ahasuerus 11:17, 4 July 2018 (EDT)

Farmerphile 4

Hi, How do I get Farmerphile #4 in the grid of these fanzines? I have to add more issues on the fanzine title page? Zlan52 12:23, 22 July 2018 (EDT)

The editor records needs to be part of the Farmerphile series. Look at Christopher Paul Carey and you will see the other issues under "Magazine Editor Series", but #4 is sitting by itself under "Magazine Editor". That's because Farmerphile #4, April 2006 does not have a series assigned to it. All magazines/fanzines should be part of a series. That can be fixed by adding the series or (in this case) merging it with the other 2006 record. -- JLaTondre (talk) 12:28, 22 July 2018 (EDT)
Thanks for the info! Zlan52 11:52, 28 July 2018 (EDT)

Held pubs

Usually I just reply to messages in my discussion pages on my discussion pages, but I'm not sure if you see them when I do so? I just noticed the "Watch this page" button below, so perhaps you are watching my page? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sjmathis (talkcontribs) .

Child of Time

Thanks for your moderation. I have added a variant title for the Dutch title. When that's approved I will add the Dutch edition I have. --divinenanny 15:27, 11 August 2018 (EDT)

Updating SERIAL Help

I am leaving this message on the Talk pages of active editors who (AFAIK) are currently active in the magazine/fanzine area. Based on recent feedback from a new editor, I have attempted to streamline our Help templates which govern the use of the SERIAL title type. I have posted a proposal which shuffles the relevant snippets between 3 different Help templates and clarifies a few things. When you get a chance, could you please review the proposed language to make sure that it's accurate and comprehensive? TIA! Ahasuerus 15:25, 24 August 2018 (EDT)

Fantastic Universe Super Pack

Thanks for merging the stories in [Fantastic Stories Presents the Fantastic Universe Super Pack] for me, but unfortunately the links for the following stories “It’s All Yours”, “The One Problem”, “Man the Martians Made”, “Like Martian Music”, and “The Cartels Jungle” all lead nowhere. Is there any way I can fix this.? And yes, I screwed up the titles. MLB 17:29, 15 September 2018 (EDT)

Never mind. MLB 17:34, 15 September 2018 (EDT)

New contributor here; I appreciate your review of my submissions. This is my first reply. Hope I do this ok. SELindberg 18:13, 9 December 2018 (EST)

No problem. To do a new post on a talk page, it's best to use the "+" link at the top of the page (next to "edit"). This will automatically create a new section at the bottom the page. Let us know if you have questions. -- JLaTondre (talk) 19:19, 9 December 2018 (EST)

Hello! Did I accidentally submit TAE2 twice (thus causing the rejection?) Also, it probably makes sense to merge the TAE2 entries for tp and ezine versions, if possible. It's the only one with two entries, while the others just have one (is it possible to indicate that all of them are available in TP and E?) Thanks! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Galacticjourney (talkcontribs) .

Yes, you submitted it twice. The tp and ebook are merged (see title record). We differentiate between title records and publication records. Each publication (hc, tp, pb, ebook) gets its own publication record (including separate printings). However, they are all combined under a common title record. Let me know if I didn't understand the question. -- JLaTondre (talk) 20:34, 28 December 2018 (EST)
