Ivor W. Hartmann

You made two edits to the author data for Ivor W. Hartmann, apparently identical. I am approving them, and making some corrections.

• On the ISFDB all dates are in the YYYY-MM-DD format. If the day or month is unknown, use 00 for that section. Do not simply give the year "1972". Instead give "1972-00-00".

• The legalname field, unlike all other name fields on the ISFDB, should be in "Lastname, Firstname M. I." format.

• We need permission to deep link to any domains that supply images. See ISFDB:Image linking permissions for more details. Google does not as far as I know routinely grant such permission, so i am going to download a copy of the image, and upload it to our wiki.

Bio:Ivor W. Hartmann

I see that you created Bio:Ivor W. Hartmann. Please note that each ISFDB Bio: page is supposed to be "a short, neutral, factual article, professional in tone," (see ISFDB:Policy#Biography Policy) and that our guidelines on such pages say:

When an author Bio page is posted on the ISFDB Wiki, it should be professional in tone, not facetious, "cutsey", or blatantly promotional. Some authors engage in jokes in printed "About the author" sections of books, or on their own websites, but the ISFDB is not the place for such writing. The purpose of any Bio page on the Wiki is to inform users and other editors briefly about the facts of the author's life. Bio pages should not include blurbs from or summaries of the author's works. Bio pages ought to be factual in content, and the facts ought to be verifiable.

I have edited the page, to prune it down, remove overly personal content, and in general conform to the above standards. I hope you don't have a problem with that. -DES ^Talk 20:23, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
