Welcome!

Hello, Ianschoenherr, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 18:40, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

John Schoenherr

Can I assume that you are related to the artist and have access to his records? If so, the source given in the Note field for uncredited cover art should be more explicit. If the records have been posted on a website, you can source that. If not, you should say "Credit based on data from the artist's personal records, provided by his [son, brother, etc], [your name]." One other thing: if the publication record has been Primary Verified (under the Verification Status listing below the record's metadata), you should leave a message on the talk page of the editor which did that verification. In the case of this record, you'll see it was verified by Willem H.. If you click on that name, you'll go to his user page. Next click the "Discussion" tab, and then click the "+" (plus) tab. A dialog box will open and you'll be able to leave a message about changing the verified record. Then either one of you can make a submission to update the record, giving the source in the Note field. I'll accept the submission and leave a message on his page this once. In the future, contact the verifier before making the submission to change a verified record. This is standard ISFDB etiquette. Thanks. Mhhutchins 23:23, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

John Schoenherr again

Hello Ian, I've just acquired a booklet titled A John Schoenherr SF Checklist. While most of the cover art attributed to John Schoenherr is credible, there are a few definitive errors. And that casts doubt on other attributions in the booklet even when those appear to be probably true. So I'd like to ask you if you can find information about the following in your father's records:

The Weird Ones (Belmont 1962)
Bodyguard and Four Other Short Novels from Galaxy (Pocket 1962), currently attributed here to Richard Powers
Contact (Paperback Library 1963)
The Universe Against Her (Ace 1964)
The Spot of Life (Ace 1964)
Alien Worlds (Paperback Library 1964)
The Insect Warriors (Ace 1965)
Bow Down To Null (Ace 1965)
Land Beyond the Map (Ace 1965), currently attributed here to Jerry Podwil
We, the Venusians (Ace 1965), dubious because there's a Gaughan preliminary painting for this title
Utopia Minus X (Ace 1966)
When Worlds Collide (Paperback Library 1966)
Bloodworld (Lancer 1968)
The Null Frequency Impulser (Berkley 1969)
Moon of Three Rings (Ace, nd)
Stargate (Ace nd)
The Weapon Makers (Ace 87840, nd), may not exist, not found in ISFDB or Ace Image Library
Rendezvous on a Lost World (Ace nd)

And not listed in the booklet:

The Unknown (Pyramid 1963), this is not the same as The Unknown Five (Pyramid 1964)
Escape Across the Cosmos (1964)
The Falling Torch (Pyramid 1972), this would be the third different Schoenherr cover for this title.

If you need more cover links or other information, please let me know. I'll be watching this page. Horzel 11:20, 27 May 2020 (EDT)
