Welcome!

Hello, Emil, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! BLongley 23:52, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Binder's Night of the Saucers

I had to reject the submission placing the second catalog number in the pub. series number field of this record. All secondary catalog numbers ("505-2116-075", the number on the book's spine) should be entered in the Note Field. See this help page that explains series. Thanks. What a negative respone or what! to someone who is trying to help out and add some new info - I put the number in that field as a guess, after I wrote the comment, so though I should put it in some field. Can you not just put the number in the correct field and say thanks?
Duhh!
Emil
p.s. For verification see unfinished page; http://www.vintage-technology.info/pages/bricabrac/scifibook/art027.htm
Sorry about the confusion -- I am sure Michael didn't mean to be rude, it's just that it can be hard to convey the right "tone" on the internet. We welcome all contributions and moderators are here to help new editors with the data entry rules. Again, thanks for submitting the data! Ahasuerus 06:50, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
Emil, I truly apologize if you thought my response was negative, but I did exactly as you requested: I "put the number in the correct field" and thanked you. I'm sorry if you feel that I should have done that without an explanation. Mhhutchins 12:57, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

What a nice apology, thank you very much - from a newbee that is still learning the data-fields. I was about to give your site a "Sodium Hydride", but your comments have turned me around. Forgotten and onwards. Regards.

Your notice to moderator

Hello, Emil! Thank you for your note, but why don't you put the note into the pub by yourself? Just edit the pub and look for the notes field. I do believe that yours is not the only copy with this advertisement in it (that'd be highly improbable). I've put your submision on hold while waiting for your answer. Cordwainer Smith - Planet Buyer/Underpeople

Cover artist for The Planet Buyer and The Underpeople is Bruce Pennington from his Facebook page here and here respectively. Records amended accordingly. --Mavmaramis 18:07, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

All the Traps of Earth

This pub that you verified: I replaced the Amazon image with a cover scan and revised the pub notes as follows:

  • Add Australia and New Zealand prices
  • Add a couple of pub notes regarding printing history
  • Re-format the pub notes into a bullet list

All the original information in the pub notes was preserved. Cheers, Patrick -- Herzbube Talk 16:31, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
