User talk:Earthspot
Welcome!
Hello, Earthspot, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Help pages
- Field-by-field guide to entering new publications into the database
- Help:Getting Started
- What the ISFDB Wiki is for
- FAQ
- Wiki editing help - Tips on how to use the wiki-specific features when editing wiki pages.
- Wiki Conventions - How things are usually done on this wiki.
- Help:How to upload images to the ISFDB wiki
Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.
Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.
I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 02:03, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Submission adding this record was accepted, but changes were made in order for it to comply with ISFDB standards. You'll find those standards linked in the Welcome section above. The most important help page is this one which is a field-by-field guide to data entry.
- Date field: I changed it to the date given on Amazon: October 15, 2009, entered into the ISFDB as "2009-10-15". If this is not correct, please update the record and a note in the Note field explaining the discrepancy.
- Publisher field: only the publisher name goes in this field, not their URL. That can be added to the publisher record.
- Binding/format field: According to the listing on Lulu.com the book is 22+ cm so that makes it a "tp" (trade paperback).
- Price field: According to Amazon, the price is $31.99. Is that correct? If not, please update the record to change the price.
- Cover image URL field: The file you linked is on a server for which we don't have permission to "deep link". The display on the ISFDB record draws bandwidth from the server hosting the image, and most websites don't like that. I've changed it to the image on Amazon, for which we have permission to link.
- Cover art credit field: Do you know who is responsible for the cover art?
To respond to this message, click on the "[edit]" link to the right. Enter your response in the dialogue box which opens. Start your message with a colon (:) which separates and indents it from the previous message making it easier to follow the discussion. In successive messages, add another colon to the number in the previous message. End your entry with four tildes (~~~~), which will automatically "sign" and date your message. Then click the "Save page" button. When someone has left a message on your talk page, you will be notified by a highlighted "My Messages" link when you log into the ISFDB. I have placed a "Watch" on your talk page so that I will be notified when you respond. Keep all discussions on the same page on which it began. Do not respond on the other person's talk page.
Welcome again and thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 02:12, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- I just saw a different price on Lulu in UK pounds. I'll add that to the record. Mhhutchins 02:19, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- I added a record for the ebook edition. I was unable to get the price from Amazon.co.uk which won't reveal prices to US users for UK-exclusive ebooks. If you know the list price (not the sale price), please update the record. Mhhutchins 02:24, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for finding info. Details all look ok to me. Kindle price is US$2.99 and AFAIK it's available in USA. Cover was supplied by Lulu.com -- don't know name of cover artist. ClarkNida 05:40, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
