Welcome!

Hello, Doctor Julian Karswell, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Stonecreek 18:58, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Would Yorkshire be a safe bet?

Hello, and welcome again! Looking at your wordpress page: would it be safe to enter Yorkshire as your place of birth? If you like, you are encouraged to enter some more personal details, but you don't need to do it: after all, we consider our database as author friendly. Thanks, Stonecreek 19:03, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

An Actor and a Rare One - Peter Cushing as Sherlock Holmes

Hello, I've rejected your submission to add this title. As far as I can see, it's not spec-fic and its author is not "above the threshold" which would allow all his works to be entered. If you think that my analysis is wrong (as per the policy stated here, don't hesitate to state your case here. Hauck 17:13, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Fantastique - Interviews with Horror, Sci-Fi & Fantasy Filmmakers

Hello, I've approved your submission but made a few changes to conform to our standards: 1) deleted webpage (it must be for the title itself, not for the publisher), 2) uploaded cover in our system, 3) deleted artist credit (unclear), 4) displaced part of the synopsis (a bit too long), 5) used ISBN-13 instead of -10, result is here. Can you confirm the £19.81 price? Hauck 07:40, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

Beelzebub

There were significant issues with your submission for Beelzebub. So much so, that I had to reject the entry and create a new which can be found here. Some particular points for future reference when entering a new publication:

  • The title should be the title of the publication. Not content within the publication.
  • The title author should be the author of the publication. Not an author who only did an essay within the publication.
  • A screen play is fiction so should be entered as a novel and not nonfiction.
  • We can only use images from sites that have explicitly given us permission to do so (see ISFDB:Image linking permissions).

Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 18:13, 27 August 2018 (EDT)

Magazine Entries

I'm holding several entries for new magazines. As far as I can tell, while these magazines are focused on the genre, they are not fiction magazines and, as such, would be considered outside the scope of the ISFDB. In that case, we would not index the non-fiction. Am I missing something? Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 18:28, 27 August 2018 (EDT)

As there has not been a response, I will have to reject these submissions. -- JLaTondre (talk) 10:09, 3 September 2018 (EDT)

BHF Book of Horror

When adding contents, they should go in the "Regular Titles" section rather than in the notes. I've updated your submission for this title. You can also see more information on adding anthologies here. Please let me know if you have any questions. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 13:38, 6 January 2022 (EST)

Regarding this submission, we can't hotlink cover images from sites that are not on this list. I've corrected that for this entry and uploaded the cover image to ISFDB. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 14:51, 18 May 2023 (EDT)
