Welcome!

Hello, DavidSutton, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! BLongley 15:38, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

The Female of the Species And Other Terror Tales

Thanks for submitting The Female of the Species And Other Terror Tales! The submission has been approved and the following changes have been made:

  • Moved "David A. Sutton (Editor)" from the Author field to the Notes field. At this point only editors of anthologies are recorded in the Author field -- we will need to improve our software before we can start recoding editors of single author collections, novels, etc in a structured way.
  • Added a "£" to the price field
  • Changed the publication date from "2012-00-00" to "2012-04-30" as per Amazon UK (hopefully they got it right)
  • Changed "Bibliography" on page 225 from "NONFICTION" to "ESSAY" -- NONFICTION is reserved for book length works
  • Converted "An Interview with Richard Davis" from an ESSAY to an INTERVIEW

I then merged the newly entered stories with their pre-existing counterparts and set up all "David A. Sutton" essays as variants under the main "David Sutton" record. I think we are all set now, but if you happen to know the original publication dates for "What We Were Looking for in Horror" and "Horror in Fiction", as well as the date of the interview, could you please add them? Thanks again! Ahasuerus 03:42, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Welcome additions

Thank you very much for adding Horror on the High Seas: Classic Weird Sea Tales,

  • There had to be added a "£" to the price field, as we have different currencies in the database.
  • I changed the publication date from "2015-00-00" to "2014-12-00" as per Amazon UK.

I have put your submission for Dead Water and Other Weird Tales on hold, as the publisher's page hasn't got it scheduled and it couldn't be found at amazon either. Do you have a more specific date for the release (the month of publication would be sufficient)? Stonecreek 09:03, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

There's a listing for it on Amazon UK, with a publication date of March 14, 2015. The "8.99" given in the submission is in UK pounds. The correct ISBN is 978-0-9929809-5-5. Also, all of the records in the db for this publisher are given as just "Alchemy Press", but that may be an older form of their name. Hope this helps. Mhhutchins 07:35, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks a lot, I have approved of the submission and will enter the changes as suggested, including the name of the publisher. Stonecreek 09:31, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

Creeping Crawlers

Hello, I've approved your submission, the result is here. I've just changed the format from "pb" to "tp" as per dimensions given by amazon and uploaded a cover scan. Hauck 17:22, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

Death After Death

Hello, I've approved your submission for this title (result is here) but made a few changes to conform to our standards: 1) largely trimmed the synopsis (it's not a space for a blurb), 2) deleted the link at title level(it must be for the title itself, not the publisher), 3) uploaded a scan, 4) merged the two titles already present in the db. Don't hesitate to add data in the notes (e.g. the fact that it's a first printing). Hauck 08:25, 1 June 2016 (UTC)

The Spirit of the Place and other Strange Tales: The Complete Short Stories of Elizabeth Walter

Hello, I've approved your submission but had to make some changes to conform to our standrads (note that some of these remarks have already made to you):

  • Added currency unit (I supposed £).
  • Changed format to tp (as per data given by amazon).
  • Dismabiguated introduction and changed its type into ESSAY (NONFICTION is for book-length works).
  • Regularized capitalization.
  • Merged some titles with the already-existing ones in the db (note that there were some length conflicts as you strangely set all lengths to "short story" which is unlikely to be true).

The result is here. Note that we now have two quite similarly titled stories Hushaby, Baby that you entered and Hushabye, Baby that was already in the db here. Perhaps this should be investigated. Hauck 13:07, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

I added FantLab ID and cover image (from FantLab). --Username (talk) 19:59, 4 September 2023 (EDT)

"James Wilson's Secret" in The Black Pilgrimage

Hi. I accepted The Black Pilgrimage, but I fixed what looked like a typo -- Nicolls -> Nicholls -- on the James Wilson's Secret credit (based on our having a record for Nicholls and none for Nicolls and another title in that same book being credited to Nicholls). If that's not correct, please change back. Thanks. --MartyD 08:14, 20 July 2019 (EDT)

The Black Pilgrimage & Other Explorations: Essays on Supernatural Fiction

Hello,

Can you confirm the format of this one? "pb" means a mass market paperback; regular paperbacks are recorded as "tp" (and from all I can find, this one seems to be a regular paperback). Thanks! Annie 15:20, 24 July 2019 (EDT)
