Welcome!

Hello, Dan.henne, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Hauck 09:48, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

The Angel's Game

Hello, I've approved your submission. As you PVed the book, you can delete the part of the note field: "Data from Amazon.com as of 2015-02-09. Price from Barnes & Noble as of 2015-02-09." that does apply no more. BTW, what is the price printed on your copy? Thanks for contributing. Hauck 09:53, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

Hello Hauck, the copy of the book I have is missing the dust jacket. I can't confirm the price because of that. Would you agree that I could delete the Amazon info but leave the "Price from Barnes...." at this time. Dan.henne 18:21, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
Perfect. Hauck 18:24, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

Oryx and Crake

Hello, to answer your question "1 2 3 4 5 07 06 05 04 03" imply 1st printing in 2003. I've taken the liberty to change the artist to this existing one, Photonica is just the agency. Hauck 19:04, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August

Hello, only one price (usually the first encountered) must be entered in the "Price" field, other prices go in the note. Hauck 19:07, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul

Hello, to answer your question, it seems to me that "PR6051.D3352L66 1988 823'.914 C88-094314-9" are more some kind of library indicias (e.g. "823" is Dewey's classification for the novel). BTW, does your copy have a price? Hauck 15:29, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

No it doesn't have a price. Dan.henne 23:59, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

Cat's Eye

I accepted your addition of Cat's Eye, but had to make some changes:

  • Amazon days (and sometimes months) for older books are usually not valid. They will default to the first when they don't know the date (or January if they don't know the month). As such, I have removed the day. You also do not need to link to Amazon in the pub notes. The software will auto link to them in the left hand menu.
  • The cover art field is for the front cover artist only. I moved the author photo and jacket design info to the pub notes. Also, a name field should only be a single person's name and no additional information such as role, etc.

Regarding your moderator note comment: Now that the publication has been added, you can use the "Upload cover scan" link on the pub record to upload the cover. You will then need to copy the uploaded image URL, edit the pub, paste the image link in the "Image URL" field, and submit. Thanks for your submission. Let us know if you have any additional questions. -- JLaTondre (talk) 11:56, 12 March 2023 (EDT)

Babel: Or the Necessity of Violence

A printing line of "22 23 24 25 26 LBC 7 6 5 4 3" means a 3rd printing while this record carries the date of the first printing. So I had to reject this - we record every printing separately. So clone the record we have and add your notes into a new publication. Let me know if you have any questions! Annie (talk) 12:21, 9 August 2023 (EDT)

I believe the "Indigo Special Edition / International edition." the version https://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pl.cgi?908742 may actually be printing #2 has anyone else actually said they have a copy of it. The initial printing which is on this link https://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pl.cgi?903275. Which I now own a copy of and have confirmed all the details are the same.
