Welcome!

Hello, Captainjaq, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Stonecreek 13:07, 26 April 2015 (UTC)

Frederick?

Hello, and thanks for contributing! I have put your submission for Undersea Quest on hold, because from the cover it looks like it's in fact credited to Frederik Pohl (but the title page may state Frederick). Please just leave a note which of the Pohls is credited. Stonecreek 13:09, 26 April 2015 (UTC)

I overlooked that a former submission from you had been approved with 'Frederik Pohl' as co-author, so I guess that's the way he's spelled in that publication. Please use for future submissions the 'Add publication to this title' function if it is a title that's already in the database: that way the newly generated title hasn't to be merged with the existing one. Also, the old British prices had to be regularized to our standard of recording them, see here. Thanks for adding these books! Stonecreek 09:19, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
Also, it may turn out that we do not have permission to display the cover imagen via links to wordpress. Maybe you have images available that you could upload? Stonecreek 09:25, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

Image file upload limits

This file exceeds the ISFDB file upload standard for image size. All images should be no taller than 600 pixels. (The file size limit is 150K.) Please reduce the image size to 600 pixels and upload again. Thanks. Mhhutchins 06:54, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Without a response, I went ahead and reduced the size myself. Mhhutchins 05:29, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

Shroud, #16

Thanks for adding this issue. I had to rename the issue to fit into the standard already established for the magazine and I had to regularize the titles of the included items (See the help pages: Case. Titles should have case regularized unless there is some specific evidence that the author intended certain letters to be in a specific case. For example, if the title is "EXTRO" in all caps, the title should be entered as "Extro" ). Also, as we do not have permission to display the cover image via the link provided, I had to drop it. You may like to upload an image, though. Stonecreek 05:18, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

Sorry... I keep trying to help and evidently not sure of the process. For instance, I keep trying to upload photos but they keep getting rejected, no matter what I do to try and follow the rules. Also, how do I add author data to my own profile (Jaq Greenspon)

Well, the start is not easy, I've experienced it myself. A good guide are the help pages and a look at how similar publications are entered. Your uploads weren't rejected, as it seems: we just had to set a limit for those in order to not run out of disk space in the near future. The cover image file for Undersea Fleet was okay, you just needed to edit the publication and fill in the URL (I have done that for you in this case). You may want to try it for Undersea Quest, as the file size was reduced by Michael Hutchins (see the item on this above).
Your author profile can be edited when you are on your author summary page and then using the •Edit Author Data function on the left side. I hope this helps. Stonecreek 09:29, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
