Welcome!

Hello, Brianthedawg, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

lengths of short stories

Hi. Welcome, and thanks for the The Snake Lady and Other Stories submission. I have merged (a process where we combine multiple title records for the same work into a single record shared among all of the publications in which the title appeared) the contained stories with those already existing in the database. In doing that, I noticed you made all of the lengths be "SHORTSTORY". The ISFDB divides short stories up into three length-based categories: SHORTSTORY (the shortest), NOVELETTE, and NOVELLA (the longest). See Help:Screen:EditPub#Length for details about that. If you don't have access to the word count, applying the page-based criteria is a reasonable way to go. If you have access to neither the text nor the page numbers, then the length can be left blank (it will get set to "sf"/shortfiction for SHORTFICTION title types).

Getting lengths right is not very important in the greater scheme of things, and lengths are easily changed, so don't worry too much about this. I only mention it because you went to the trouble to enter all of that detail. Again, welcome and thanks for the submission! --MartyD 16:48, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Smith: A Sylvan Interlude

I'm moving your verified copy of Smith: A Sylvan Interlude to make it a variant under Cabell's pseudonym of "Branch Cabell" as it appears on the title page, rather than "James Branch Cabell". Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 22:16, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Smirt

I've added notes to Cabell's Smirt. I've also changed the author from "James Branch Cabell" to "Branch Cabell." Both Worldcat and the Library of Congress indicate that he used that pseudonym for this title and the cover carries it as well. Let me know if the title page says something different. Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 02:49, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

Lee's For Maurice: Five Unlikely Stories

I added notes to Vernon Lee's For Maurice: Five Unlikely Stories detailing secondary sources. I also expanded the name of the publisher per the Worldcat record and added the price from Tuck. Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 12:13, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

Smirt and Smith again.

I've added the author's note to Smirt and added the cover artist to both that title and Smith. Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 21:52, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

Pain's The New Gulliver

I've added the price and the remaining stories to Barry Pain's The New Gulliver and Other Stories. Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 13:19, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
