Welcome!

Hello, Barbarianluke, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! MagicUnk 15:51, 2 September 2021 (EDT)

Legal names

Our Legal name field has the format "Last, First Middle" and not "First Middle Last" :) Question about Josh Adkins - it is unusual for one's legal name to have an initial instead of a middle name (not unheard of but unusual). Are you sure that his LEGAL name is "Joshua K. Adkins"(if he just published under that name, we handle that differently). Can you provide a source for that? Annie 06:32, 12 November 2021 (EST)

The Cromcast Chronicle, Winter 2020

We have different rules when adding magazines compared to books.

  • Naming: We do not use the issue number in the title unless we do not have a date. With "Winter 2020" there, "Issue 1" goes only in the notes.
  • Dating: We date based on cover date and not exact date of publication. "Winter 2020" would means 2020-00-00 but as we have exact date, we can use the month from there. A Day is used only for magazines which print the date inside of the magazine or where they are on bi-weekly schedules and so on.
  • We do not use the "Series Number" field for magazines.

And a few other things that needed fixing (and that apply to both books and magazines)

  • Essays with common titles (Introduction and so on) get the name of the book/magazine after their name.
  • Non-fiction pieces inside of books are always recorded as essays and not non-fiction.

I fixed these plus I moved the zine description on the series level and added the link to the magazine in the publication record. The result is here. Thanks for adding it and let me know if you have any questions. Annie 06:42, 12 November 2021 (EST)
