Welcome!

Hello, ArgonRex, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! MagicUnk 08:30, 1 August 2022 (EDT)

The Man from Far Cloud

Hello. I have your submission on hold as I'm wondering where you got the information from? Do note that it is good practice (required) to add the source of the data you enter/alter in the Pub Note field - additional comments can go in the Note to Moderator field to clarify to the approver of your edit why you added/changed the data. Also, if you happen to own the book, do not hesitate to primary verify it (see Verify This Pub in the left-hand menu). PV-ing a publication signifies that the data you've entered is as stated on or in the book you own. Again, welcome! Regards, MagicUnk 08:00, 1 August 2022 (EDT)

(moved from here) Hello, about the changes on the page of "The Man from Far Cloud": It happens that I acquired the book recently and when I saw that the information on the book's page on ISDB was incomplete I tried to change it, but as it is my first modification I ended up not putting the source. It's still a little confusing here for me, but I hope I get used to it. Regards, ArgonRex 17:28, 7 August 2022
Thank you for your answer. I have accepted your submission. A couple of recommendations:
  • If you intend to continue contribute to the ISFDB (please do!), it's a good idea to read the material available in the welcome message above. If you need help, do head over to the Community Portal or Moderator Noticeboard. There are always moderators around that are more than happy to help out where they can.
  • I see that you transiently verified the publication record: if you have the book permanently, better to use just primary verification (that signals other editors they can ask you about the book as they'll know you have it at hand)
  • When you receive a message on your talk page, answer by pressing the small edit at the far right of this message, and indent your reply with one or more ':' . Moderators (and editors) keep a watch on any message they've sent via the 'my watchlist' (at the top right of the wiki)
  • The software will display yellow warning messages - you can use the back button most of the time to correct that error. If you do, you need to go to My Pending Edits and cancel the previous (erroneous) submission. Pay particular attention to Amazon image url's - URL's containing a '/P' may not be stable, and need to be replaced with an '/l' URL; and strip the formatting (anything between two underscores) - I've done that for you for this one.
  • Finally do add notes. Eg. where does the date come from, the day won't be on or in the book, right? so that info is from another (secondary) source - as an example, see here or here (doesn't have to be that detailed, but it gives you an idea what additional info can be added).
