Welcome!

Hello, Ann Cathey, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 17:31, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

Music Speaks

This publication was accepted into the database, but some changes where made, and further ones may have to be made for it to comply with ISFDB standards. I added the publication date of June 16, 2012, based on the Amazon listing. The "Artist1" field is to credit the cover artst, not the contributors. I've removed all names from this field. I also removed the description of the work (as opposed to a description of the book) from the Note field. There's a field for a synopsis in the title record of the anthology. I also changed the editor's name from "L.B. Clark" to "L. B. Clark" as the standard is to add a space after each period in an initialed name.

A concern: your description implies that some of the stories are not speculative fiction. Any of the content stories which are not spec-fic (or borderline) should be removed from the record and deleted from the database. Mhhutchins 18:34, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

Wolf in the Fold

Re [ this publication]: At 63 print pages in length, this would not be considered a novel. So I changed it to a CHAPTERBOOK, with a SHORTFICTION content record. I also added the binding (ebook), moved Amazon's ASIN to the Note field (only an ISBN or catalog number should go in the ISBN/Catalog # field), added a currency symbol to the price field (US dollars), and removed the number from page count field. (Kindle-formatted ebooks do not have a page count, as the number of pages is set by the reader.) Please keep these changes in mind when making future submissions. You should also use this help page as a field-by-field guide to creating and updating publication records on the ISFDB. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 18:43, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

Boo!

Re this publication: The following changes were made:

  • Publication date changed to 2013-10-27 (based on the Amazon listing)
  • Publication binding/format was changed to "tp" for trade paperback (according to the Amazon listing)
  • US dollar currency symbol was added to the price
  • Synopsis was removed from the Note field (feel free to add it to the Synopsis field of the title record.)

A question: what is the last page in the book? If there's a story starting on page 107, there has to be more than the 89 pages you gave in the page count field. Mhhutchins 18:49, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
