Welcome!
Hello, Ackshooerry, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Help pages
- Field-by-field guide to entering new publications into the database
- Help:Getting Started
- What the ISFDB Wiki is for
- FAQ
- Wiki editing help - Tips on how to use the wiki-specific features when editing wiki pages.
- Wiki Conventions - How things are usually done on this wiki.
- Help:How to upload images to the ISFDB wiki
Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.
Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.
I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- JLaTondre (talk) 08:05, 19 April 2020 (EDT)
Fields of Sleep
I accepted your edit to Fields of Sleep. As your note said you have a copy, please consider verifying it (see welcome message above for instructions). We appreciate your contribution. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 08:06, 19 April 2020 (EDT)
ERB Biography
I approved your submission for this biography, but in the terminology of the ISFDB it isn't a trade paperback. You should change that to a pamphlet (ph) or to "quarto", which I prefer. In the comments, you should note that the verification copy is bound with a plastic comb. And by the way, I also rejected your deletion of the cased versions of Grant's Howard volumes. I understand your objection, but I think they deserve to be shown as separate publications. There are others like this, some recent pubs from Grim Oak Press. Bob 15:48, 20 April 2020 (EDT)
I Appreciate Your Participation
Mike, thanks for your contributions to the data base. Even though they are modest so far, all of us regulars appreciate new points of view and hope you will continue to participate. Please don't hesitate to "rock the boat" in the future, we may or may not agree, but don't mind arguments, they make the data base stronger in the long run. One criticism: your last note on my page, you forgot to sign. ISFDB fills in for you, telling me who made the comment, but try to establish the habit of signing. Bob 10:32, 22 April 2020 (EDT)
Stonecutter
Hello,
pb is really meant to be used only for paperbound American style paperbacks. So how about we make the format here to be "other" and that the note will explain what that means. Annie 16:30, 22 April 2020 (EDT)
- I always think pb should be "mass market paperback", but apparently that term is not universally used. Bob 10:38, 23 April 2020 (EDT)
- You and me both. But when I try to start a conversation, either someone derails it or everyone disagrees and it leads nowhere. Annie 14:07, 23 April 2020 (EDT)
Song of Susannah
I accepted your two new Song of Susannah additions. However, as you added them as new pubs, it required merging the new records with the existing ones. If you are adding a new version of a publication that is already in the database, it's best to use the "Add Publication to This Title" on the publication content title record (example) or the "Clone This Pub" on the publication record of another edition (example). This will pre-populate some of the content and avoid having to merge after the fact. Let us know if you need help with either option.
For this edition, the format is missing if you could fill it in. Thanks for your submissions. -- JLaTondre (talk) 17:27, 25 April 2020 (EDT)
The Dark Tower
You added this one perfectly but can you check again the ISBN - it is an invalid one. Any chance it is 1-880418-61-4 actually (inverted last 2 numbers) and not 1-880418-64-1? ABebooks recognizes it this way as well and it is a valid one. Annie 19:47, 27 April 2020 (EDT)
- Adding both dust-jackets in a single image is acceptable as a cover :) Annie 20:03, 27 April 2020 (EDT)
