Founded in 1952 by Macmillan in London, St. Martin's Press was originally primarily a distributor of Macmillan books, but grew rapidly as a publisher in its own right. St. Martin's currently publishes books under five imprints: St. Martin’s Press, Griffin, Minotaur, Thomas Dunne Books, and Truman Talley Books.

In December 1986, St Martin's Press acquired Tor Books but that is now its own separate company within the Macmillan group.

Their web site is www.stmartins.com.
