The printing date for this later printing is not stated and so the advertising is being used to help estimate the date.
- A prior owner date stamped my copy with 1966 and likely purchased the book new.
- Advertising on the back flap for 3 Prophetic Novels published in 1960.
- Advertising on the back cover for the following:
- Flatland by Edwin A. Abbott. Reported as published in 1952 but this is for a pb reprint of their 1952 hc.
- The Marvelous Land of Oz by L. Frank Baum. Earlier Dover edition not on ISFDB. This would be a pb edition at $1.50.
- The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum - Published in 1960.
- Ghost and Horror Stories of Ambrose Bierce by Ambrose Bierce - Published in 1964.
- The Cruise of the Cachalot by Frank T. Bullen. Non-genre?
- The Land that Time Forgot, The Moon Maid by Edgar Rice Burroughs - Published in 1963.
- Pirates of Venus, Lost on Venus by Edgar Rice Burroughs - published in 1963.
- Three Martian Novels: Thuvia, Maid of Mars, The Chessmen of Mars, The Master Mind of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs - published in 1962.
- At the Earth's Core, Pellucidar, Tanar of Pellucidar: Three Science Fiction Novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs published in 1963.
- Best Ghost Stories of J. Sheridan LeFanu by J. S. Le Fanu - published in 1964.
- Three Science Fiction Novels by John Taine - published in 1964.
- The War in the Air, In the Days of the Comet, and The Food of the Gods by H. G. Wells - published in 1963.
- Three Gothic Novels by E. F. Bleiler - published in 1966.
- 26 books are listed on the back cover. I only looked up a sample including the higher priced books on the theory they would be the most recent printings.
I have what appears to be the same edition as the one described in the pub record and on this page with the following exceptions:
- The price of $4.50 is intact, and printed on the front flap of the dustjacket after "T265" assumed to be a Dover catalog number.
- Being an ex-library copy with the due date listing still affixed, the first stamped date is "SEP 29 '64".
- Only 21 titles are listed on the back cover (including this title). All of the above titles are mentioned with some slight differences:
- The Wizard of Oz instead of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
- Best Supernatural Stories of J. Sheridan LeFanu instead of Best Ghost Stories of J. Sheridan LeFanu
- The last three titles on the above list (Three Science Fiction Novels, The War in the Air, In the Days of the Comet, and The Food of the Gods and Three Gothic Novels) are not included on this printing.
With these facts in mind, I assume that my copy is an earlier printing and have created a new ISFDB record, dated 1964. MHHutchins 04:13, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
