Ryan Durney is a award-winning, full-time freelance illustrator focusing on fantasy, sci-fi and children's books as well as science and prehistoric subjects.

Although his work is mostly digital, he loves mixing in watercolor and oils when possible, as exactly half of his degree from Columbus College of Art & Design was training in traditional media.

"The shift to digital artwork from hand-done media was not jarring, or forced, but rather excitedly embraced by me in the early stages, which allows me to grow comfortably alongside of it.

Of all my various critiques and comments, my favorite review described my work as "pearlescent." I want to do work that is cutting edge yet has the patina of the familiar picturebook classics we know and love."

Ryan has won several awards for his work, including many international competitions and "Society of Illustrators West #45."
