BIO
LAWRENCE SANTORO was born September 2, 1942, in Reading, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University and Villanova University and took degrees in Theater with undergraduate focuses on English literature, philosophy, art history and journalism.
His first "writing" was at age 6 when he won a storytelling contest at a local playground. "Of course, I didn't know I was writing. I just thought I was telling a nightmare." He learned to love his nightmares.
Larry met his wife, Tycelia Mary White, at Kutztown State College in Pennsylvania on his birthday in 1963. They married nearly 40 years later in Chicago where they now live.
WORK
Santoro's writing covers a wide range of genres from horror and contemporary fantasy to straight-up fiction with a twist.
As associate producer of the syndicated comedy/mystery television series, "Hyde & Seeke," he wrote, directed and supervised production during the show’s first season. In 2001 the Horror Writers Association nominated his novella “God Screamed and Screamed, Then I Ate Him” for a Bram Stoker Award. In 2002, his audio adaptation and production of Gene Wolfe's The Tree Is My Hat earned him a second Stoker nod. The production featured Neil Gaiman in the cast.
His Stoker-recommended story "Catching" received Honorable Mention in Ellen Datlow’s 17th Annual “Year's Best Fantasy and Horror” anthology in 2003. In 2004, his "So Many Tiny Mouths" was cited in the anthology’s 18th edition. In the 20th, his novella, “At Angels Sixteen,” from the anthology A DARK AND DEADLY VALLEY was similarly honored.
Larry’s first novel, JUST NORTH OF NOWHERE was published in 2007.
Since 2008, Santoro has become a regular contributor/narrator on Britain’s Starship Sofa.
In 2010, his short novel LORD DICKENS'S DECLARATION was released in both print and audio versions in England. An .rtf version of the novella was sold during December of 2009 as a fund-raiser to benefit science fiction writers Spider and Jenne Robinson.

He is currently working on a second novel, Bright Dreams Passing.
