Katina Parthemos was born ca. 1951. She graduated from high school in Richmond, VA in 1969. She is the head of the collection development department at the Addlestone Library at the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C.. She received the 2007 "Louis Shores-Greenwood Publishing Group Award" from the American Library Association. The award announcement described her by saying "In 1980, Katina founded the Charleston Conference which provides a forum for librarians, publishers and vendors to discuss important issues to all participants. In 1989, she launched Against the Grain, a journal aimed at news about libraries, publishers, book jobbers, and subscription agents. In 1999, Katina helped to establish the Charleston Advisor, another online source that evaluates web products." Along with her husband, Arnold Bruce Strauch, she has published four horror genre novels as Katina Alexis.
