Books and Writers: John Updike was born in Reading in Pennsylvania, but until he was 13 he lived in Shillington, a smaller city near Reading, and then he moved away to Plowville, PA. Wikipedia: Updike was the only child of Wesley Russell Updike and Linda Grace Hoyer in Reading, Pennsylvania and grew up in the nearby small town Shillington.8 The family later moved to the unincorporated village of Plowville. --Dirk P Broer 14:25, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
