Jeff Coleman (1955-2016)
Jeff Coleman began working as a visual artist following in his father, Oliver M. Coleman, Jr's footsteps. Jeff's interests were wide ranging, from the paintings of the old masters and surrealists, to sculpture and special effects makeup.
Jeff Coleman s sculptures and paintings are based on fact, myth and mystical legends of the Medieval and Renaissance periods. His dragons and gothic gargoyles are sometimes based on ancient relics and at other times are one of a kind originals.
American born Jeff Coleman s work can be seen in the Frank Collection, a book put out by Jane and Howard Frank, collectors of the world s finest fantastic art, and on the Smithsonian Museum s tour of their collection.
Coleman also worked with special effects makeup wizard Tom Savini on his production of the play Dracula, and his sculpture work can be seen on the TV s Tales from the Darkside.
He was also a talented guitarist and composer who performed along the East Coast for over 40 years. His most recent band was the trio Three Below Zero, with bassist/singer James Flynt and drummer Jeff Stone.
