Chris Westwood was for three years a staff writer on the weekly music paper Record Mirror before studying Film & TV production in Bournemouth. While still at college he began work on his first young adult novel, A Light In The Black, a runner-up for the Guardian Children's Fiction prize. To date he has published three adult novels and six for younger readers including Virtual World (long-listed for the Carnegie Award), Brother Of Mine and Calling All Monsters, which was optioned for film by Steven Spielberg.
