Date of birth/death

http://www.kingkong.demon.co.uk/ccer/1957x.htm reports on an expired copyright listing

  • Manly (Miles) BANISTER {US} [M: 1914 Mar 9 - 1986 Jun]

Conquest Of Earth

http://www.authorandbookinfo.com/ngcoba/ba2.htm lists "Conquest Of Earth (aka: The Scarlet Saint) [f|1957]" - I used this as a source to add The Scarlet Saint as a novel with Conquest Of Earth as a VT. The goal is to link the two titles.

The Airmont printing of Conquest Of Earth seems to support this as it states

  • Bouregy edition published June, 1957. (This is not in ISFDB but we have an Avalon Books edition at that date)
  • Airmont edition published August, 1964.
  • ©, Copyright, 1957, by Manly Banister
  • ©, Copyright, 1955m 1956, Ziff-Davis Publishing, Co.

The story also supports the title The Scarlet Saint as the main character wears a scarlet robe/cape as a badge of office showing membership in "The Scarlet Order of Men."

Eegoboo

The story Eegoboo is not in ISFDB but there's also unsuffient data to established where it was published

The Nekromantikon

Manly wrote in this article about starting a magazine The Nekromantikon. http://ampersandduck.blogspot.com/2007/05/remember-to-breathe_16.html

This blog reports on a biography at http://palimpsest.stanford.edu/byform/mailing-lists/bookarts/2002/10/msg00223.html which is a 404 but includes in the blog He published a science fiction fanzine in the 40's and 50's called NEKROMANTIKON. The first issue's cover was a linoleum cut carved and printed by Banister. NEKROMANTIKON set a new standard for fanzines of the day.
