Most, if not all, of Benson's stories were initially published on usenet, specifically on the usenet group soc.sexuality.spanking. All of them are, to one degree or another, spanking erotica. The collection published by CF Publications may have included some previously unpublished stories.

John Benson's web site unseemly.org contains over 730 stories as of July 2009. Not all of these are SF, but I estimate that at least a third and probably half of them are either science fiction or fantasy.

As far as I can tell, Benson is NOT the same as the author recorded as John Benson. This John Benson has said/written that he is a computer programmer who lives in Madison Wis. This does not fit what can be found on an internet search about the "other" John Benson. This John Benson has not, as far as I know, publicly stated his birth date or anything else about his biography. JohnMarks 15:06, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
