Most of Burnett's work is non-genre. This certainly includes "Little Lord Fuantleroy" and "Giovanni and the Other". (The later collection includes a story titled "The Little Faun", but that is about a young boy who reminds her of a faun.) "A Little Princess" is borderline speculative fiction, see the title notes there for details. "A Little Princess" is, essentially, a revised version of "Sara Crewe", but that story does not include the speculative fiction element. In "The White People", a young girl sees the ghosts of people who have died. "The Secret Garden" is included because of the actions of the robin, who appears to be magically directing the girl to find, first, the key, and then the door to the garden. The two collections included here are named after stories which are non-genre, but they include stories that, arguably, are speculative fiction.
