Locus1 claims that Elijah Ellis is a pseudonym for James Richard Ellis. They do not make that claim with respect to this particular story, but with respect to another story published under that name in 1964. The unusual name, the close time frame, and the fact that both our story and the one in Locus1 were published in Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine is convincing evidence that these refer to the same person.
