1 novel, 1 novella
  • The 1833 preface covers the second work in its closing paragraph: "To the Tale of Alroy I have added the history of a Christian hero placed in a somewhat similar position ...".
  • In the first edition (London: Saunders and Otley, 1833), all three volume title pages display the titles of both component works separated by a horizontal line. In the US edition (Philadelphia, 1833), the two volume title pages display the two component titles without a line. (Both 1833 editions may be viewed at HathiTrust, linked above.)
  • The 1870 US publication Miriam Alroy: A Romance of Twelfth Century contains the same two works, although its title does not indicate the fact. Thus it is another edition of the same omnibus work.
Synopsis: The heroes of the two works are an eastern Jew, during the 12th century, and a Christian "placed in a somewhat similar position". The former is a Prince of the Captivity, or "an asserted descendant of David" who ruled the Jews for many purposes, although they acknowledged conquerors. --from the 1833 Preface

1833 See the parent omnibus record for much general information. Title pages of the 1833 editions credit the author thus (quote title page components): • By the Author of "Vivian Grey," "Contarini Fleming," &c. • By the Author of Vivian Grey, Contarini Fleming, &c., What follows is the next title page component, In Three Volumes or In Two Volumes.
The Wondrous Tale of Alroy: The Rise of Iskander [as by The Author of 'Vivian Grey,' 'Contarini Fleming,' &c.]
1870 by the Right Hon. Benjamin Disraeli, author of "Lothair," "Venetia," "Henrietta Temple," "Contarini Fleming," "Coningsby," etc., etc. This publication contains both The Woundrous Tale of Alroy and (probably non-genre) The Rise of Iskander --as does the first edition of either work in a book, The Woundrous Tale of Alroy: The Rise of Iskander (1833)-- but this publication's essentially identical front cover and title page do not indicate that it contains the second work.
Miriam Alroy: A Romance of the Twelfth Century [as by The Right Hon. Benjamin Disraeli]
