Synopsis: In an unnamed, isolated city, computers have been linked to houses so that they will transform them according to middle-term weather changes. But eventually, many houses become "infected" : the computers have gone crazy, basing themselves upon more and more distant previsions about the evolution of Earth and the human race. Infected houses start growing "roots", i.e. underground rooms conceived according to absurd principles. Computers recycle the matter of the original buildings that start decaying, in order to produce new useless rooms, furniture and utensils. Many inhabitants are forced to abandon their houses, and increase the crowd of "homeless" parked in tent camps ouside the city. Some people even become infected by microscopic computer terminals recycling their own bodies. Lacking space underground, the computers start fighting each other…
