Note: Collects interviews that were conducted from November 1981 to August 1982. Some of them were first published in various issues of the monthly literary magazine Odra in 1984. First published as a book in 1986 in Germany by the publishing house Insel. In 1987, the book was published in its original language, but in a low-quality edition of 10,000 copies; furthermore, the book was subject to significant government censorship. In particular, the parts were removed that discussed the Polish government's declaration of the martial law and the Soviet occupation of the city of Lwów, where Lem lived during his youth.
