    • This is a limited edition of an unknown number of copies and was available by subscription only.
    • One of The Masterpieces of Science Fiction series, indicated by the logo printed on the endpapers.
    • No ISBN, no printed price, and no dustjacket as issued.
    • The uncredited illustrative cover design is repeated on the back.
    • Pages are gilt-edged and there is a gold satin ribbon bookmark bound into the book.
    • The frontispiece, credited on the title page and the copyright page, is on the page facing the title page. Unusual for this series, it is a B&W illustration.
    • There are an additional fifteen full-page B&W illustrations by Klein printed on unnumbered plates.
    • "Collector's Notes" (uncredited) are on a double-sided laid-in sheet.
    • This edition appears to be a facsimile reprint of the 1949 Simon & Schuster edition, even though there's a copyright page statement: "Published by The Easton Press with the permission of Bluejay Books, Inc." Bluejay may have had the rights to reprint the title, but never published it before the company ceased publishing in 1986.
    • Verified copy was purchased for approximately $40.00 from the publisher.
    • Two separate states are known to exist. One with green leather (verified) and the other with the same artwork but bound in orange leather. It is not known which was published first.
