If published in 1927 this is one of the first books from Doubleday, Doran and Company, Inc., created by merger of Doubleday, Page and George H. Doran in 1927. These two stories were published in the 1928 book Kai Lung Unrolls His Mat, which is a novel at ISFDB (see). Copyright year may refer only to 1927 publication of "The Story of Wan" in The London Mercury, OCLC 221488224. OCLC 221495046 reports it contained in The Best British Short Stories of 1928.
