Library records for this collection and publication series (found only at WorldCat, OCLC below) differ on several points • hyphenated title • full name author • roman-numbered pages, vii or ix • year inferred/estimated, 19--s or [1919?] or [1920] Under uncertainty the hyphenated title of the magazine stories and the 1882 collection is retained here for convenience, as is the author credit by full name from the 1882 collection. Ewing is credited by full name in the Queen's Treasures 1910 edition of The Brownies and Other Tales, and its 1920 reprint, although she is "Mrs. Ewing" in publisher lists of the series (e.g., the half-title leaf of both those books). The Brownies title page is dated in both books.
