:: These 3 edits, http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/view_submission.cgi?5326688, http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/view_submission.cgi?5326689, http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/view_submission.cgi?5327880, were rejected, just like the one above. Are they the right covers, and in future can I add covers without having to check with you first and stop these unnecessary rejections? MLB agreed to my replacing his unstable Amazon cover images without having to contact him first, so I hope you will agree to my adding covers to your uncovered PV, too. EDIT: This one, http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/view_submission.cgi?5333380, hasn't been rejected yet but I thought I'd save time and just ask you if that's the right cover, too. --[[User:Username|Username]] 10:25, 2 June 2022 (EDT)

:::Hello! These are all the correct covers and you can add future covers without asking but with two exceptions.Later printings of the publishers '''Heyne''' and '''Goldmann''' often have different covers. Therefore, it is better to ask whether it's the right cover for the respective printing. I've approved all four submissions. Regards Rudolf [[User:Rudam|Rudam]] 03:55, 6 June 2022 (EDT)

Hello Rudolf, lately a lot of your updates appear in our cleanup report that lists Invalid Record URLs in Notes, likely because you use to leave a space between the "http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?" and the TitleID. It works in the dispaly but is detected by our cleanup report. Hauck 03:02, 5 September 2017 (EDT) BTW, perhaps is your talk page a bit long. Hauck 03:02, 5 September 2017 (EDT)

Hello Herve! I've always suspected that I've done something wrong, but I couldn't find out, because the display was always correct! Thanks to inform me what I did wrong! It's true that my talk page has become too long, but I don't know how to archive it. Rudolf! Rudam 05:19, 5 September 2017 (EDT)

Atelier Heinrichs as cover artist for Alpträume

Hi, Rudolf! My third printing with the same art has a credit to Atelier Heinrich for the cover. What do you think of adding this 'artist'? See also this discussion item for some recent changes to the first printing. Christian Stonecreek 07:11, 6 November 2017 (EST)

Hi Christian! Atelier Heinrichs is also listed in the first printing. It looks like a typical collage that characterizes the Atelier Heinrichs and so I'll add it.
Thanks for fixing that mistake in the 1963 issue. It seems that worldcat is not to be trusted as the only source. I'm going to add a note that Worlcat is stating a wrong book title. Rudolf Rudam 12:52, 7 November 2017 (EST)

Another Bastei Lübbe foul-up ...

... or so it seems: According to amazon (and my later printing) the cover art for Salmonson's anthology Amazonen! should be corresponding to this one: but that was done by Eric Ladd, not by Michael Whelan as credited. Can you check? Christian Stonecreek 10:06, 8 November 2017 (EST)

Bastei Lübbe did it again. In my copy Michael Whelan is indeed mentioned as the artist, but the cover art is actually the same as the one you suggested by Eric Ladd. I'll fix it. Thanks for the tip. Rudolf Rudam 10:43, 9 November 2017 (EST)

Your printing of Die drei Sonnen

Hi, Rudolf. This may have been published later than January (in 0000-00-00?). I've seen a much higher printing that still has only "Deutsche Erstausgabe 01/2017". What do you think? Christian Stonecreek 13:22, 20 November 2017 (EST)

Hello Christian! My copy couldn't have been published after January 2017, because I bought it on the 14th of January 2017 and entered it in the DB on the same day (see my PV). The first printing was available before christmas 2016 (see entry of the first printing). If later printings should be added you could doubt the date of the month. Rudolf Rudam 09:01, 22 November 2017 (EST)
Ah, yes, right you are! Thanks for the update. Christian Stonecreek 09:05, 22 November 2017 (EST)

Andere Himmel publication series

Hi Rudolf, regarding your PV'd Andere Himmel: based on the discussion I had with Christian on his talk page for "Die letzte Siedlerin" it looks like the publication series "Bastei Lübbe Science Fiction Special" was not used after approx. 1996. Can you please check your publication if that series is really stated there? If not we should probably change several wrong publication record or coordinate other ways how we want to deal with these series. I have compiled a list of approximate series lifespans on Bastei Lübbe's page. Jens Hitspacebar 10:01, 26 November 2017 (EST)

Please also see that discussion for a possible renaming of "Bastei Lübbe Science Fiction" into "Bastei Lübbe Science Fiction & Fantasy". Christian Stonecreek 10:56, 26 November 2017 (EST)
Hi, Rudolf. Maybe you missed this, but if you just meant to issue no objection we could proceed. Maybe we'll wait for one more day. Christian Stonecreek 08:32, 3 December 2017 (EST)
Sorry, but I'd lost sight of that question. The name of the publication series is not mentioned in the book and only the numbering refers to the publication series. The dropping of the series name seems to have taken place around 1994. Rudolf Rudam 10:53, 3 December 2017 (EST)

Your printing of Solaris ...

... is entered as hc (the first printing was mistakenly entered as such). Also, the publication series is missing, is that correct? Christian Stonecreek 15:46, 30 November 2017 (EST)

Hello Christian! The difference is caused by the fact that the data for the first printing is completely taken from the Deutsche Nationalbilbiothek. The format is described there as "broschiert" and the publication series as "Science Fiction & Fantastica'". Nowhere in my copy of the second printing the former name of the publication series is mentioned and the format of the book is actually harcover. Rudolf Rudam 06:14, 3 December 2017 (EST)
Curious! I have seen the first printing and it is as decribed by DNB. One would think that a publisher would use at leat the same format for a new printing. Thanks for taking the second look. Christian Stonecreek 08:06, 3 December 2017 (EST)
But maybe at least the cover image resembles the one of the first printing? Christian Stonecreek 09:22, 8 December 2017 (EST)
It does! Rudolf Rudam 05:09, 9 December 2017 (EST)
Okay, I have added the image. Thanks, Christian Stonecreek 09:27, 9 December 2017 (EST)

Cover image for Samjatin's Wir with Heyne

Hello, Rudolf! I have added the cover image to this. It's the one from the 1982 reprint, that I have seen: I'm guessing that it remained unchanged over the years, but it is certainly better if you check on it. Merry Christmas (in retrospect). Christian Stonecreek 07:11, 27 December 2017 (EST)

Hello Christian! Sorry to say,, but it is the wrong cover. Heyne has frequently changed the covers from the 60s and early 70s when they were reprinted again in the 80s. This is the correct cover Wir Rudolf and likewise a belated Merry Christmas! Rudam 07:55, 27 December 2017 (EST)

Hello Bill! It isn't re-painted and it isn't a later printing. We have repeatedly noticed in the past that this publisher Bastei Lübbe used incorrect artist names on the copyright page. Thanks for revealing another mistake. I'll fix it. Rudolf Rudam 10:32, 13 January 2018 (EST)

Carl Amery's Der Untergang der Stadt Passau

Hello! A recent discussion on a different title reminded me to check this one: the fiction turned out to be only of novella length and the single publications thus are CHAPBOOKs. Are you okay with the change? Christian Stonecreek 11:10, 18 January 2018 (EST)

Hello Christian! According to the ISFDB standards (word counting) you're right, it would have to be a novella. On the other hand, this book is referred as a novel in all German bibliographies as in our discussion about Die Kinder des Saturn. I accept your request to change the book into a novella, but in fact it contradicts the existing language usage in German biobliographies. By the way, what do you think of this book Das Gitter? Rudolf Rudam 06:17, 21 January 2018 (EST)
Yes, it'll be the same. In the beginning, I did orient at the types stated with the respective publications, it was just tempting.
Regarding Der Untergang der Stadt Passau': Amery sees it as a shortfiction according to his preface. Christian Stonecreek 09:47, 21 January 2018 (EST)

Perry Rhodan Planetenromane

Hi, I got good news and bad news about this series. As You verified at Planet der Mock, the date of publication is calculated. But in Perry Rhodan Heft #156 inside the front cover there is an advertising notice, which says: „Das Perry Rhodan Taschenbuch ist da! ... Ab Anfang September (1964)... erhältlich“. So I'm for shure the publication day was Friday 1964-09-04. Bad news: all following dates are wrong, too. --Zapp 09:00, 28 January 2018 (EST)

Sorry, but I think you are wrong, Zapp! 'Anfang September' is in no way a distinct day of publication, and seems to encompass the first half of the month. Our data was calculated from various notes and ads. (It also seems that the dates of publication at Perrypedia were based on this one fuzzy statement, without looking at further evidence.) Take a look for example at the publications from the fifth cycle ('Meister der Insel') and the note for "Planet der Mock" & the ones for higher no.s of the publication series. Christian Stonecreek 23:45, 28 January 2018 (EST)
The fuzziness may be rooted in the uncertainty of the day of publication: the start may have been planned for 1964-09-04, but there seems to have been an unreliability of a delay (which then has happened). I'll update some of the early publications in the series to make things more clear. Christian Stonecreek 06:27, 29 January 2018 (EST)

Cover art for Der Robotspion

Hello Rudolf! The cover art for Der Robotspion doesn't seem to be by a known hand (and not by Atelier Heinrichs & Bachmann), since it's the same as for the original edition. Christian Stonecreek 04:28, 30 January 2018 (EST)i

Well spotted, Christian! I'll modified it! Rudolf Rudam 15:13, 30 January 2018 (EST)

Titans Tochter

Hello Rudolf, this publication is sitting on one of our cleanup reports for a long time. You entered it as a novella in german which is varianted to a novel in english. Perhaps is a change of type (from CHAPBOOK/SHORTSTORY to NOVEL) may be in order. Thanks for having a look. Hauck 04:47, 23 February 2018 (EST)

Sorry, it seems that I may be responsible for the mess (at least there is a dim recognition of such a fact). I guess that I started on that title but somehow got distracted (by a question, a discussion or whatever). It seems to me that this title also only qualifies as SHORTFICTION, at least the German version does so. Hervé could you guess a rough word count for the original? Christian Stonecreek 08:31, 23 February 2018 (EST)
All things should be in order now: turned out as a NOVEL after all. Christian Stonecreek 00:14, 25 February 2018 (EST)
Hello Herve! Thanks for rembering me to this. It was on my to-do-list. it seems that Christian was the origin of the confusion, but he corrected it now. Thanks! Rudolf Rudam 03:59, 25 February 2018 (EST)

Bastei Lübbe series (again)

Hi Rudolf,

in December we discussed the chaos of the Bastei Lübbe series on Chrstian's talk page and how to resolve it. Christian later came back with some more information derived from second hand book shop visits and we now have a final idea of how we'd like to summarize the series. It can be found in the "(unindent) Final version" paragraph on my talk page. What do you think about this solution? Jens Hitspacebar 15:20, 19 March 2018 (EDT)

Hi Jens! Sorry for the late reply but I have job-related stress. At first sight, it looks okay. I'll take a closer look at it over this weekend and then give my final feedback. Thanks for your patience. Rudolf 14:24, 21 March 2018 (EDT)

Title change for PR NEO

Hi, based on the cover image & the statement at Perrypedia, while merging I changed the title for this publication to "Das Gift des Rings" (from "Das Gift des Ringes"). I hope that was the right move. Christian Stonecreek 06:19, 20 March 2018 (EDT)

Thanks for the correction. Rudolf 14:15, 21 March 2018 (EDT)

Planned Project Scope Expansion

(I am leaving this note on the Talk pages of some of the more active editors to make sure that we are not missing anything. If you have been following this Rules and Standards discussion and agree with the proposal, please ignore this note.)

As per this discussion, ISFDB:Policy#Rules_of_Acquisition is about to be expanded to include:

  • Speculative fiction webzines, which are defined as online periodicals with distinct issues
  • Special speculative fiction issues of non-genre webzines
  • One time speculative fiction anthologies published on the Web

If you believe that this scope expansion may cause unforeseen and/or undesirable consequences, please share your thoughts on the Rules and Standards page. TIA! Ahasuerus 11:25, 4 July 2018 (EDT)

Hello Rudolf, I added the cover and changed the date, which is stated in the second printing, to 1972-12-00. Regards Henna 06:43, 18 December 2018 (EST)

Sorry, but to play safe, I have changed the date back to 1972-00-00. There were many more volumes of the publication series in 1972, so 1972-12-00 seemed unlikely to me. Bastei Lübbe was a publisher whose copyright pages were not always in the best condition, see this example: the statement for 1972-12-00 may actually refer to another book. It also wasn't the second printing but the first printing of the second edition, two things the publisher mixes up quite often. Christian Stonecreek 10:46, 18 December 2018 (EST)

Die Mars-Chroniken

Hello Rudolf, in a hasty decision I unmerged the Diogenes edition from the Heyne edition. Now I see I would have to unmerge all stories too. When I look in the Heyne and Diogenes editions of Die Mars-Chroniken, I‘m not sure we should handle it as the same text. Here is the first paragraph:

Can you please take a look at the unrevised translation by Thomas Schlück and give me an advice. Many Thanks Henna 15:39, 12 February 2019 (EST)

Hello Henna! Indeed the Diogenes edition is gently revised (and in my opinion affectionately "bradburyfied"). But it's not a complete new translation. The source is still the translation of Thomas Schlück. What do you think if the publications would be merged back and a mention in the notes is made that the Diogenes editions have been gently revised by Alfons Barth?
BTW, you stated the the poem by Sara Teasdale is translated by herself. Is that correct? In the Heyne editions the poem has been translated by Wolfgang Jeschke. First line is: Leise Regen werden kommen und frischer Duft. In the MvS edition the fist line is: Leise Regen werden kommen und Bodenduft Rudolf Rudam 08:30, 13 February 2019 (EST)
Hello Rudolf, I will merge back the editions and will edit the notes.
Do I understand it right, the text of the Heyne editon, with exeption of the poems, is the same as in the MvS edition?
The poem by Sara Teasdale is not translated by herself, the text is also revised: Sanfte Regen werden kommen und des Bodens Duft. The Byron poem is different: Schweifen werden wir und scherzen, instead of: Laß uns jetzt zur Ruhe kommen.
Thank you for your research Henna 06:56, 14 February 2019 (EST)
Hello Henna! That's correct. The translation of the Heyne edition is identical with the MvS edition, except the two poems. In the MvS edition is the first line of Lord Byrons poem: Nicht länger streifen wir einher. Rudolf Rudam 11:47, 14 February 2019 (EST)

Pabel Utopia Taschenbuch revisited

Hi Rudolf, we'd had a thread on this a while back but as I am now getting around to completing the Utopia digests it is resurfacing. I was thinking of renaming the series from "Utopia Zukunft" to "Utopia Taschenbuch", that should make it better distinguishable from the digest series. Do you concur? Cheers, John JLochhas 12:10, 29 July 2019 (EDT)

Hello John! I have taken a closer look at the naming and it's a good idea to reconsider the name of the publication series. All books are published and numbered under the name Pabel-Taschenbuch and have an additional label as Zukunftsroman, Science Fiction and Utopia-Zukunft. All books have an advertisement on page 176. Pabel had diveded there his Pabel-Taschenbuch series into the sub-series Kommissar X-Kriminalromane, Western-Romane and weitere Pabel-Taschenbücher. All Utopia-books are added under the last category. There is no special sub-series. I propose that we call the pub series only Pabel-Taschenbuch or Pabel-Taschenbuch-Utopia. What do you think? Cheers. Rudolf Rudam 05:10, 1 August 2019 (EDT)
Hi Rudolf, yes, let's go with Pabel-Taschenbuch, that's the way that the pub. series is stated everywhere and it looks like the cleanest option to me. I'll capture the changes... Cheers, John. JLochhas 11:56, 1 August 2019 (EDT)

Polaris

Hi, Rudolf, a good year 2020 for you! Thanks for beginning to add this series, which was long overdue. However, I'd think it might be better to add this as a (yearly) magazine, since essays and shortfiction are part of all of the titles, but in some of them essays take the most part of the respective publication. Also, it is described as almanac, which most often corresponds to a yearly magazine (at least in general publishing). What do you think? Christian Stonecreek 03:27, 3 January 2020 (EST)

Hello Christian! Happy New Year to you too. I agree that it is a yearbook series. But I wouldn't consider it as a magazine, but more like an almanac series. According to my research almanac is not considered as a magazine but only as a yearbook. If we use your criterias as a guideline, then we have to consider this Science Fiction Almanach as a magazine too. What do you think? Rudolf Rudam 08:56, 3 January 2020 (EST)
Hi, I went ahead and added Polaris 6-10 as a magazine (as an experiment). It turned out that at least #s 6 & 10 couldn't be considered anthologies: they are dedicated to Herbert W. Franke & the Strugatskys, respectively. They wouldn't be considered as collections as well, as they have more the character of nonfiction titles on the authors.
In the case of the series published with Moewig, at least all of the titles are dominated by shortfiction, and can thus be considered safely as anthologies as well (though it'd also be possible to change them to magazines). Christian Stonecreek 12:55, 3 January 2020 (EST)
Hi! It's really difficult to determine the publication type of Polaris 6 and 10. That doesn't make things easier! I still think of it as a kind of yearbook. But due to the definition chaos with individual volumes, we can make it a magazine. Let start! Rudolf Rudam 08:01, 4 January 2020 (EST)
Of those numbers that I have, only Polaris 9 seems to be majored undoubtable by shortfiction. For the others, essays and fiction seem to be more or less on a par. I've seen that you transformed #s 4 & 5. Thanks for that. I'll see if I can dig out something about the months of publication, and will also upload the cover images. It is a variant title to a novel, and so creates a maintenance report. 148 pages is long enough for a novel. It is either this, or making the canonical a novella too.--Dirk P Broer 08:33, 28 February 2020 (EST)

Alternate name to Mário-Henrique Leiria

Hi Rudam, you approved my PubUpdate to this, although it is needed to create an alternate name of Mário-Henrique Leiria, so that the link of the translator (Mário Henrique Leiria) could lead to the author. I don´t know how to do that, and i think i don´t have the permissions necessary to do that. To sum up: it is needed to create an author of Mário Henrique Leiria and make it an alternate name of Mário-Henrique Leiria. Could you do that? Thanks! Best regards--Wolland 07:59, 2 March 2020 (EST)

Hi Wolland! An alternate name can only be created if an author title exists for the parent name and the alternate name. A name that only appears in the notes and has no publication in the database will not have an author title and therefore cannot be used as an alternative name. Your request is therefore not feasible. Regards Rudolf Rudam 08:52, 2 March 2020 (EST)

Hello Henna, you're right! There are two ISBN numbers on the copyright page. The first ISBN is for the Nymphenburger hardcover edition (publisher number 485). The second ISBN is at the very end of the copyright page and I missed it completely. Thanks a lot for bringing this to my attention! Rudolf Rudam 05:23, 19 November 2020 (EST)

Der Hund in Die Hunde der Hölle

I added a collection by Ivan Turgenev which included several prose poems which I entered as POEMs. One of the prose poems is a translation of Собака. I notices that we also had this title as a short story and I've converted the variant titles that were unverified or where the verifiers are inactive. There is one remaining translation in your verified Die Hunde der Hölle. If you agree, you can convert your story to a poem and make it a variant of the title above. The parent story title could then be deleted. Let me know if you disagree or have any questions. Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 00:18, 19 December 2020 (EST)

Hello Ron! First sorry for my belated reply. I actually have to disagree, because they are two different stories. Ivan Turgenev has written two works with the title Sobatka. The first is from 1866 and is about 16 pages long and is titled story by Fantlab. The second is from 1878 and is only one page long and Fantlab calls it a prose poem. German magazines and editors

Hello,

I hope you are doing well despite the crazy times we live in.

Just heads up as you are working on these often enough (and had verified a lot of them). The DB expects the author of the publication and of the title to be the same. For some reason, long time ago, someone started doing things differently for the German magazines: instead of creating a parent record with the names that are known only based on secondary sources, the EDITOR record was edited to have them as authors. See this one for an example of a fixed one: the uncredited title is inside of the publications (matching the publication authors); the authored one is just a parent.

The cleanup report looking for these discrepancies had suppressed them initially due to the volume -- and then they were forgotten and noone looked closely at these. The report is going to be updated and these will get fixed but if you add any new ones, just heads up. :) More details are in Christian's page - but if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. The other thread also has the fastest process on clearing these (if you want to change some -- although it is a pretty logical one). Thanks! Annie 23:56, 11 March 2021 (EST)

Hello Annie!
The times are indeed tough. I hope that after my hiatus I will be back more regularly. Thanks for your detailed information. At that time I must have copied it unfortunately without questioning. But I will obey it in the future. Rudolf Rudam 13:07, 10 May 2021 (EDT)

Uralt, mein Feind and others

Hi, Rudolf! I was surprised that Dickson's collection wasn't stated as first German edition by Heyne. But you had and have several publications marked with "First edition (noted stated)" or "First German edition (noted stated)". Here's a list. I guess we are right to assume that this phrase should read "Apparent first German edition (not stated)", as far as translations are concerned (all but one of the nine)? Christian Stonecreek 09:45, 12 March 2021 (EST)

I approved the changed on this one. Rudolf, when you are back, can you recheck the note? Thanks! Annie 04:28, 5 April 2021 (EDT)
Hello! I've checked it and it's ok with me. Also I'll check this list with the other publications and revise it if necessary. The noted stated is a stupid typo! It' s of course not stated. Rudolf Rudam 13:20, 10 May 2021 (EDT)

18 Gänsehaut-Stories

Hallo Rudolf, some time ago I added this anthology and researched the parent of Die Zaubernacht in den Hochlanden. It is Philarète Chasles: L’Œil sans paupière. The first French edition was published by anonymous, the first German edition by Balzac.

Hello Henna! Thanks for this unexpected information. Excellent that you found out this fact. Unfortunately, you forgot to enter this additional information in the notes of the title. Abenteuer Randwelt

Hello Rudolf, as a primary verifier you stated John Grimes: Autobiographische Notizen as short fiction / short story. So I did that for the following titles in the series. Meanwhile I located where the title was first published. See John Grimes - Autobiographical Notes where it is listed as article. In my opinion it should be stated as an essay. I would change this and the following titles to essay and make the first publication to a parent title. What do you think?
What do you do with prefaces with identical content? So far I have entered it with "Vorwort (title)". This ultimately results in 12 identical prefaces. The same problem arises with an identical obituary in five of fourteen volumes. Hubert Peregrin 13:20, 28 August 2021 (EDT)

Hello Hubert! Good catch to find the source of the text. Initially I also thought it is an essay, but if you read it carefully, it is written as a fictional text about a fictional person. I would define it as a fictional report disguised as an article. That's why I put it under the category fiction.
If the content of the prefaces are identical, then we merge them, as here Introduction (Conan; first Heyne series). Regards Rudolf Rudam 05:20, 29 August 2021 (EDT)

Hello Rudolf, the Lichtenberg edition and the first Heyne edition are abridged, look here. Should I add the unabridged edition from this pub as an separated title or merge them? Thanks Henna 12:08, 29 August 2021 (EDT)
Hi, Henna, I'd think the omnibus should reprint the previous version, at least that was Jeschke's policy in most cases. Christian Stonecreek 12:30, 29 August 2021 (EDT)
Okay, I see that it's stated as unabridged. If the expansion isn't much longer than the first German version, I'd recommend to clone / import that one and add a note, like it was done for the original English novel (please look at the note); maybe even the revised text was used for the expansion. Christian Stonecreek 12:57, 29 August 2021 (EDT)
Hello Henna, that is a nice catch you made. I will add your information to my verified copy. Usually, abridged or revised editions are merged and annotated with the appropriate information. So feel free to merge the 1987 edition with the others. As your information only states abridged and not revised, we can assume that the 1987 edition is an unabridged version and not the revised edition. Thanks and regards. Directory Entry

Hello,

I saw you set the language to a few of the Czech authors so just a reminder that for non-pure Latin authors, the Directory name may need tweaking: "only English letters "A" through "z" and punctuation are allowed in this field". So when setting the language, also fix this if you do not mind - or someone needs to reedit after you (technically these will also need transliterations - so if you do not mind doing these as well, it will be even better but at least fixing the directory name will make sure that the author actually shows up on the author directory (if the non-Latin character is one of the first two, it won't be there at all). For example Štiblaríková needs to be Stiblarikova or Shtiblarikova in the directory name (and before that she was not in the directory at all). Pirochová needs to be Pirochova and so on. Annie 17:15, 19 October 2021 (EDT)

Hello! I've checked my copy and the notes accurately describe this edition. The title page, the copyright page and the spine explicitly state Pyramid Books. I consider that Pyramid Giant is just the series name and not the publisher. If Username has other sources, then he should specify them. Regards Rudolf Rudam 12:24, 17 March 2022 (EDT)
Username was just going by the note you or someone else wrote that says "Pyramid Giant", and the Pyramid Giant logo in the upper left corner of the cover. If Pyramid Giant isn't a publisher then somebody should tell the editors who entered Pyramid Giant as a publisher, http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pubs_not_in_series.cgi?20393, including an edition of this book we're discussing. --Username 13:07, 17 March 2022 (EDT)
We credit the publisher per the title & copyright pages, not the cover. As for the other Pyramid Giant works, I will point the verifiers of those works to this conversation. However, if Pyramid switched their marketing between an imprint and a pub series (stranger things have happened), we would record separately and add notes to explain the difference. -- JLaTondre (talk) 18:14, 18 March 2022 (EDT)

Was kommt nach dem Zukuntsschock?

Hello, Rudam. About this interview in SF Perry Rhodan Magazin, 4/79: is it an interview or more of an essay? I called the original Future article, "Alvin Toffler: After Future Shock", an essay. I know Stonecreek disagrees with me on the definition of an interview (I say it's an interview only if it's in Q&A format), but what do you say? I'd like to make the German article a variant of the English, but they have to be the same type. Thanks.--Rosab618 03:06, 26 March 2022 (EDT)

IMO, it is quite clearly an interview, it's only that the questions aren't phrased as questions (instead they are in the form of micro-essays). If this ain't interviews we would also have to change the interviews collected in this series, which tend even more towards essays (here also many of the answers are micro-essays, if I remember correctly), but in the same vein represent real conversations/interviews. Christian Stonecreek 07:50, 26 March 2022 (EDT)
Hello Rosab! At first glance this looks like an essay, but the content has been taken from an interview. I actually would have considered it an essay as well, but similar texts where an interview was converted from Q&A to an essay like form are the well-known books Dream Makers. The texts there were all defined as interviews. So I would suggest, to make it consistent, to consider this also as an interview. Regards Rudolf Rudam 04:43, 27 March 2022 (EDT)
Hello, Rudam. The original piece was an essay too: Alvin Toffler: After Future Shock Do you agree?--Rosab618 10:19, 28 March 2022 (EDT)
Hello Rosab! Unfortunately, there is a label in the magazine that indicates it is an interview. If you look at the Table of contents of this issue, you will notice that it is stated as an interview. Would you disagree with the ToC ? Regards Rudolf Rudam 05:25, 29 March 2022 (EDT)
Yes, I would.--Rosab618 09:47, 30 March 2022 (EDT)
Since you can't agree with Stonecreek and me, I suggest you take Annie's recommendation and submit the problem to the Community Portal in order to achieve a decision there. Regards Rudolf Rudam 05:25, 2 April 2022 (EDT)
Or take a look at Living in the Future: An Interview with Artist Shusei Nagaoka, which you also have entered - IMO erroneously - as an ESSAY (it wasn't characterized as an interview without minding the category): I do think it's in the same or a similar form. One has to concede that it's more edited than the average interview with interchanging Qs & As, but it's still an account of an interview and should be classified as such: in the end virtually every (published) interview was edited by a) the interviewer, b) the responsible magazine editor, and/or c) the interviewee. These 3 edits, http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/view_submission.cgi?5326688, http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/view_submission.cgi?5326689, http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/view_submission.cgi?5327880, were rejected, just like the one above. --Username 10:25, 2 June 2022 (EDT)
Hello! These are all the correct covers and you can add future covers without asking but with two exceptions.Later printings of the publishers Heyne and Goldmann often have different covers. Therefore, it is better to ask whether it's the right cover for the respective printing. I've approved all four submissions. Regards Rudolf Rudam 03:55, 6 June 2022 (EDT)

Accidental Unreject

Hi Rudam

I have to apologize, but I accidentally hit unreject on one of your own edits that you had rejected. Unfortunately, since you're a moderator, I can't undo the mistake. this edit was returned to the queue. Sorry to create extra work for you. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 17:53, 17 May 2022 (EDT)
