Star*Line, March-April 1997

I've accepted the submission to add a record for this issue of the periodical. There's just a few changes that I've made in order for it to comply with ISFDB standards (see this help page). The title field was changed from "Star*Line March-April 1997" to "Star*Line, March-April 1997" (note the comma to separate title from issue date). I also changed the page number for "DOWN THE WATERWAY" from "8-10" to just "8" (we only record the page on which the content begins). I also disambiguated the generic title "Editorial" by adding the issue title (name and date) parenthetically (this keeps common names on an author's page from being accidentally merged, because doing this disambiguation gives each work a unique name). I did the same thing with the two works with identical titles "(untitled)" by Garrison, but went further by giving them each a number because they're in the same issue. A question: all the titles of the poems were accepted as entered, even though they don't follow standard capitalization rules. Are you certain that some are all caps because of the author's intentions or was this an editorial or typesetter's intentions. In most cases we standardize capitalization unless we're certain that it's authorial and not editorial. Thanks. Mhhutchins 04:53, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the helpful advice. In answer to your question, I entered the titles as they appear on the page where each poem is actually presented. The all caps titles are listed in standard form in the table of contents, but are all caps above the poems themselves. I don't know which capitalization scheme was intended by the author, especially since there is a disparity between the table of contents and the body of the magazine. I assume the uncapitalized titles are as the author intended, since the body & table of contents agree (& I know this to be the case for my poems). Thanks. PeterRoberts 03:28, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Star*Line Special Issue 1992

I accepted the submission adding this issue to the database, but there are a couple of problems. I think the publisher is probably the SFPA, not the SFWA. Also "octavo" is not one of the standard sizes. You'll find the list here. I see that other issues of this have used the same name for the publication type. What are the dimensions of the magazine? Is it perfect-bound or stapled? Thanks. Mhhutchins 07:59, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

You are of course quite right that it should be SFPA -- carelessness on my part, sorry. As to the size of the magazine, it is about 5.5 x 8.5 in. & is stapled. Thanks. PeterRoberts 08:36, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
