Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

Wild Thing

Welcome again. Thanks for adding your book and welcome to the DB again. A few minor points:

• We cannot link to this site so I replaced the image with an Amazon one. If you have an image you have the rights to, you can upload it here - see the links in my welcome message.
• "pb" is for American style mass market paperbacks. At $21.00, this probably is a bigger book. Can you confirm? Amazon says 5x8 which would be a "tp" here. The explanation is here.
• We record number of pages based on last numbered and/or printed page. See here. When you have a chance, can you check that and see if 466 is indeed what the correct value should be.

• Regarding the image, I have provided one for which I have the rights to. The Help info on uploading one said:

"From a publication record display, click the link labeled "Upload cover scan" (or "Upload new cover scan" if the Image URL field is not empty)." I visited http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?2648714 and from there found the Publication Record and I've just now uploaded an image.

• Regarding the "pb" entry, yes, that should be "tp" just as you say. (The "pb" has ISBN 9781925430004 and US price $18.)

• Re page numbers, thanks for the explanation. No, 466 is the number of sheets in the book. The number of pages for the TP is 445+[12].

• Re the Verified, yes, I've only released minor revisions of the book (corrections), therefore I kept the ISBN unchanged: so I believe this is correctly verified (especially since the book had not been entered until I did so). I don't think I'd dare Verify any books other than mine.

I'll soon try to enter the details for the next three books in my series so far, after I'm confident I've provided the details to this first one to your satisfaction.

Questions

1) Should I myself enter the details for the "pb" edition?

1.1) I assume there's no better way to do that than to copy and paste the unchanged details from one to the other?

Verified means that you have this specific edition of the book and you checked the record against it :) It is not about the text itself- it is a verification of the record against a real book.

• About the image - once you upload it, you need to get the link to the image and update the record for it. Would you like to do that updating the format and the number of pages as well? Go to the book,the Edit link is at the top right corner AND on the left menu. I can update for you if you prefer that as well.
• Yes, you can add the other editions. Look at the book you already added. On the left menu there is a Clone menu. That way the new book will autoconnect to this one. If you use New, we will need to manually merge them later. Clone will fill-in all the data from the copy you are cloning from and allow you to change what is needed.
• Oh yes, we are interested in all editions, ebooks and audio-books (when they are a reading and not dramatization) included. You do not need to add them if you do not want to but... if you use clone, adding a few more copies is not a problem.

By the way, if you have any stories published as well, we can work on them later as well. I will be more than happy assisting you getting your page here as complete as we can make it. :) Annie 14:07, 23 November 2019 (EST)

I tried to add the link to the new cover image (http://www.isfdb.org/wiki/index.php/Image:WLDTHNGLBD2015.jpg) but the Edit link in the top right (and in the left menu) only allows editing of the title details, not the publication details. I discovered I was on the Title entry (http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?2648714) not the Publication entry (http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pl.cgi?745762). Once I'd worked that out, I was able to fix up most of the mistakes I'd made. But it wouldn't allow me to use the cover image URL http://www.isfdb.org/wiki/index.php/Image:WLDTHNGLBD2015.jpg. Maybe that was the old one? I tried uploading the new cover image I had uploaded a 2nd time (because I hadn't recorded the URL from the ISFDB after I uploaded it), but that said "A file with this name exists already, please check Image:WLDTHNGLBD2015.jpg if you are not sure if you want to change it." I took a guess that this meant I should change the Destination filename. Then I noted down the URL generated ([1]). Maybe I've made all the newbie mistakes I can think to make. I'll see how I go with cloning it to make the other entries.

PS: It would be nice if ISDB one day allowed Australian authors to add in the external ID of their books in the National Library of Australia, as they do for the British Library, various US libraries, and the German, Irish, French etc. national libraries.
