In this section, I am describing the norms of punctuation established in the 2005 edition of the [http://www.rae.es/recursos/diccionarios/dpd Diccionario panhispánico de dudas] and its 2010 [http://www.rae.es/sites/default/files/Principales_novedades_de_la_Ortografia_de_la_lengua_espanola.pdf orthographic update], both joint publications of the RAE and the academies of 22 other Spanish-speaking countries. Not all publishers necessarily follow all of these norms; however, since the DPD is an authoritative, international, and easily consulted source, I think we ought to follow it in every detail.

All prefixes are written directly attached to their word without a hyphen (e.g. exministro, antimafia), except when attached to a capitalized word or a number, in which case they are hyphenated (e.g. pos-Gorbachov, sub-21).
