British publisher of books for and about women, founded in 1973. In 1982 it became part of the "Chatto, Virago, Bodley Head and Cape Group" (whoever they were - more research needed). In 1987 they became independent again, but by 1996 they had been sold again and became an imprint of Little, Brown.
