Eponymous publisher founded in 1897 at 9 Henrietta Street, Covent Garden, London. Moved to 8 St Martin’s Street, London in 1908. Was temporarily named "E. Grant Richards" (using his wife's initial) between 1905 and 1908. Company renamed to "Richards Press" in 1926.

There were two bankruptcies, in 1905 and 1926. And probably two companies, the second founded as E. Grant Richards in 1905.
