Publishers founded in 1848 by John Cassell. Acquired Gollancz from Houghton Mifflin in October 1992. Was itself acquired by the Orion Publishing Group in December 1998.
Cassell's were one of the first publishers to put a code date in the rear of their books: e.g. 50624 = 5th June 1924.
