Michelle Theresa Gengaro (born 1969 or 1970) graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York City with a BFA in illustration. As of 1998 she worked as a graphic designer at Knopf and Crown Books for Young Readers (an imprint or imprints of Random House).

Gengaro and Ali Tarik Kokmen married on 31 May 1998 at ages 28 and 27 in Carle Place NY officiated by an American Catholic priest. Their parents then resided in Floral Park, Queens NY, and in Rochester MN.

Gengaro has taught graphic design and typography at Parsons. She is a freelance book designer. As an illustrator she works primarily on products for children.
