Georgess McHargue has written many books for children and young adults. She was a National Book Award Finalist, was nominated for the Dorothy Canfield Fisher award, and was a Fellow at the MacDowell Colony. She has reviewed children’s books for the New York Times and twice served on the children’s book jury for the American Book Awards and for the Junior Scholastic writing contest. She initiated the Women Who Lead series -- a biography series of women from world history. She is also co-founder, past President, and current Treasurer of Timelines, Inc., a cultural resources management firm, and has written numerous archaeological publications for general audiences. She lives with her archaeologist husband in Groton, MA.
