Welcome!

Hello, Graeme, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! --MartyD 13:45, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

Daughter of the Blood

Hi, and welcome. I accepted your addition of Daughter of the Blood, found a cover image for it on Amazon, and made a few other notes about it. The ISBN-13 and the fact that it's an ebook from 1998 are a little suspicious, but all of the information I could find does point that way, so I added rather detailed notes. Do you actually have this ebook, or did your information come strictly from Goodreads? You can reply here by editing this section. Indent your response by adding a colon (":") onto the front of the line (one colon per level of indentation). Thanks, and thank you for contributing. --MartyD 14:31, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

Oh crap!! I didn't save my comment from earlier today! Saw the notes - good idea. Yes, I thought 1998 & epub??? But then http://www.worldcat.org/title/daughter-of-the-blood/oclc/441492307 agrees. No, I was looking to purchase but I found a 2nd hand pb which got the job done but I usually check isfdb early in a search for stuff like isbn, tags, publisher etc - I saw this edition first at Goodreads & liked the cover but hadn't seen it at isfdb so thought it'd be a good idea to add it & the info was straight from Goodreads.
Now a question - I expect the answer is no. Do you list stories that are available on-line e.g. http://temporarilysignificant.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/the-home-crowd-advantage.html "The Home Crowd Advantage" by Ben Aaronovitch & part of his Rivers of London series?
Michael, Mhhutchins, our local expert on ISBNs, says the ISBN-13 can't have been 1998 and is in a range that likely is from 2007-2008. So he changed it to "date unknown" (0000-00-00).
In general, web-only publication, such as posting on a blog, is not eligible. See ISFDB:Policy#Rules_of_Acquisition for a detailed list of INs and OUTs. There are some nuances, but the rule of thumb is that the content should be available in some "persistent" way, such that if the website disappeared we'd still be able to have the content. This usually means the publication must be provided in some intended-to-be-downloaded-and-saved format, such as PDF or EPUB or Kindle (etc.). --MartyD 10:55, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the help/advice Marty - I will continue to add tags etc as my reading life continues and, I expect, only rarely add a new edition.
Cheers, Graeme
