Santaroga Barrier

I have your submission for a new record/edition on hold as the ISBN entered refers to the 1971 NEL edition of Whipping Star, also by Herbert. Was the number entered correctly? Thanks for editing! ~Bill, --Bluesman 17:47, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Looks like an Amazon error rather than Nicola's - there wasn't a 1971 NEL edition of Whipping Star. 17:59, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Ah you beat me to it. Sorry I couldn't figure out how to review my entry in case there was a typo but I can confirm the ISBN on both the copyright page and back cover is 450 01856 3 NicolaT 18:10, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
My mistake! Should have checked OCLC in the first place... Approved the submission! ~Bill, --Bluesman 18:15, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Iron Fist

I have your submission on hold. There is already a [record] for this title, just with a different year. Is your book [I assume you have a copy] a later printing? Also the field for Publication Series is meant for the likes of Ace Doubles or Gollancz Masterworks, not for Star Wars. The title record in the link above is already in the X-Wing series, a sub-series of Star Wars. --~ Bill, Bluesman 18:20, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Apologies, for some reason I failed to find the title when I searched for "Iron Fist" (assume user error) and I couldn't see it in the results for "Star Wars". Yes this is a reprint "Bantam edition reprinted 1999". Thank you for the clarification re Publication Series, I mistakenly assumed the Series and Series Number fields in the Star Wars entries was the same thing. How can I fix these mistakes?
I'll accept the submission and fix the data. I'll also fix the image as with the URL as is the whole Amazon image, with arrows and all, would be shown. To get rid of the extraneous parts what has to be done is remove everything in the URL http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/517H49370AL._BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-sticker-arrow-click,TopRight,35,-76_AA300_SH20_OU02_.jpg from the period after the "L" [every Amazon image has the first part of the URL ending with the capital "L"] up to the .jpg so the above link would be reduced to http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/517H49370AL.jpg.
There seems to be some inconsistency about how titles like this are entered, eg 'Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith: Obi-Wan's Foe' vs simply "Obi-Wan's Foe'. Which is the preferred style of title entry? NicolaT 18:47, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
There was a change about two years ago with the way titles in series were recorded. To keep from having incredibly long titles the Series parts were dropped, but not every pub record was revisited to make the changes [each separate record would have to be fixed]. Some series are short but something like DragonLance has hundreds of titles. A lot of work! Someday they'll all be done. --~ Bill, Bluesman 19:32, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
