High Couch of Silistra

Thank you for your submisison of a new publication of High Couch of Silistra. A couple of points about your submisison:

  • You give the title as "High Couch of Silistra (Returning Creation)". We already have Returning Creation listed as a variant title of High Couch of Silistra. Unless the title appears on the title page as "High Couch of Silistra (Returning Creation)", the new publication you are enterign should have as its title just "High Couch of Silistra", or whatever is on the title page, not including series indicators (such as "#1 in The Silistra Series") those belong in the notes as you have them).
  • Cover prices should be given with a currency symbol, as $2.50 or £1.99.

I am going to approve your submisison, and fix the currency symbol. Was "(Returning Creation)" shown on the title page? -DES Talk 21:50, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

If that's how it is shown that's how we record it. I'm a little surprised, but there is no accounting for publishers.

Image upload

Thank you for uploading Image:High Couch of Silistra (cover) Bantam 3rd printing 1981.jpg‎ and for adding the {{Cover Image Data}} tag. I re-edited it to add the pub record number, which allows a link to be made from the image to the pub record. This record number isn't available for a new pub until the edit creating the pub has been approved.

Many people choose to use the publication tag -- HGHCCHFSLS1981 in this case -- as the file name for an image, but the tag also isn't available until the pub has been created in the database. The sort of name you used is just fine. If you do upload when creating a new pub record, do come back and add the Pub= parameter to the license tag after the pub has been approved, please. -DES Talk 22:03, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

How did you find the wiki?

Many new editors in the past have had some trouble finding the ISFDB wiki. We have recently been making some code changes in part to help new editors find the wiki more easily. You found it quite promptly. What path led you to the wiki, please? -DES Talk 22:34, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Irresistible Forces

BTW, it is always a judgement call whether to enter an "About the author" section. n a novel, unless it has something beyond a standard bio, most don't. On an anthology where it covers multiple authors, there is IMO more reason to list it. Anyway, it does no harm. -DES Talk 00:37, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
