Author Image link

I sent the gist of this via email, too. Just recording here for the community at large....

Thank you for updating your author info. One thing about it, though.... The Author Image link is like cover image links, doing "deep linking". That is to say, each time the image is displayed, it is loaded from that host site. Because this puts a load on that server, ISFDB policy is to use such links only with sites that have given us permission to do so.

1632.org is not (yet) a site from which we have such permission. Are you in a position to grant (or arrange for the ISFDB to get) such permission? If so, would you please send (or arrange to have sent) a semi-formal message to isfdb dot moderators at gmail dot com stating that deep linking to the site is allowed. If permission can't or shouldn't be granted, the other option is to upload the image to the ISFDB server and then modify Rick Boatright to point to that uploaded image. I can't do that for you due to the copyright restrictions on the 1632.org site, but if that content is yours, you could do it.

I'm going to accept your submission as you provided it, but I'll have to take away that image link soon if we don't have permission to link to it. Thanks. --MartyD 11:06, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

The software has been updated to credit 1632, Inc., e.g. see the way Grantville Gazette 33 now appears. Thanks! Ahasuerus 02:54, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Image Linking Permission

Wikipedia won't let us (or anyone) deep link to their images. Here's a list of websites that have granted us permission to link to their images. You can also upload images to our server. Book covers must be uploaded with a fair use license tag, but photographs can not be uploaded unless you have explicit permission from the photographer and/or copyright holder. The Chronicles of Dr Gribbleflotz

Hello, I've approved your submission for this novel but made a few changes to conform to our standards: 1) changed "Dr" to "Dr." in title, 2) slightly de-blurbed and split the synopsis, 3) changed title series from "1632" to "1632 Fiction" (here), 4) added currency and decimals and 5) uploaded cover. The result is here. As the book seems to be some kind of fixup, this information would interestingly fit in the "Notes" section at title level (use the "Edit This Title" link at this level). Thanks for contributing. Hauck 14:15, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
