A few notes about this one:

Non-fiction pieces inside of magazines and books are recorded as essays, not non-fiction
Photograph is not a valid name for an author...
Same for Wikipedia. I changed both to uncredited - if you tell me how they are credited in the magazine exactly, I can fix that.
The reviews section is only for reviews of genre books. Anything else goes in as an essay - so I moved the film reviews.
We do not use the Publication series number for magazines.
Is the magazine the size of a standard American mass market paperback? If not, the format probably should be different. Check the options and let me know which is the closest.

Sexy Fantastic #1

I approved your submission for Sexy Fantastic #1, but there was significant fix-up. You can't use the cover art because the ISFDB doesn't have permission to use that source of scans. If you want to go to the trouble, you can ask the publisher for permission for the ISFDB to use the scans and then tell Ahasuerus you have this permission. Then you can use the published scan. Movie reviews should be essays, not reviews. Reviews are limited to books that are in the data base, otherwise they should be essays. Sometimes if a book is not in the data base, but should be, you can enter than book, then use review to enter it. Subscription data was moved to the notes; you could enter the per issue price if you wish. Did you count the covers in determining the number of pages? Whether or not the magazine numbers the covers, the number of pages should always include the covers. You can say if the covers are included in the page numbers in the notes section.

The shortfictions are mostly short stories, judging by the number of pages. The Leiber story is a novelette, and is merged with other copies of that story in the data base. Of course, you could not make that merge until the submission was approved. All the items you named "nonfiction" should have been "essay". Nonfiction is usually reserved for publications, not items in the publications. Finally, if there are letters, they are entered as "Letter to Sexy Fantastic #1" and called essays. But if the authors are not already in the data base, don't enter them. I have no way of telling if any of the writers are in the data base.

I know these are a lot of modifications to your original submission, but that's not surprising for a new editor. I hope you will continue to participate in expanding the data base. Bob 16:55, 14 April 2021 (EDT)

Fantasque, 2004

I once again approved your submission, this time of Fantasque, 2004. Again there were a number of corrections needed. I added the comma in the title, assuming the title itself did not include the date. If I was wrong, please remove the comma. I also put the issue number (9) under the series name, not down below. Click on the question mark by the series name to see what information should be entered there. Magazines almost never have information that should be entered there. Once again, ISFDB does not have permission to use the scan from the source you suggested. If you have a copy of the pub, you could scan that copy and use that as the image. Again, did the number of pages include covers? It always should, whether or not the pub numbers the covers. The entry for cover art is for cover art only. The other entries should be for fep (front endpapers, assuming the inside of the front cover isn't numbered), bep (back endpapers, again assuming the inside of the back cover isn't numbered) and bc (back cover). The name of the pub is used if the art doesn't have a name, and numbers are added to keep the pieces of art separate in searches. Finally, Welmerink's canonical name doesn't use his middle initial. Once the pub is approved, you should make the title he contributed a variant, with the canonical name as the variant part. The canonical name is simply the one selected to be the name the author/artist is most likely to be known as.

Twisted Boulevard

Title: The subtitle goes in the title field, not in the title note field.
Author: This field should just be the name, no descriptions, roles, etc.
Image URL: This should be the URL to just the image, not the whole Amazon page.

Strange Wonderland, number one

I approved your submission for Strange Wonderland, but had to remove the cover scan, from a source that ISFDB doesn't have permission to use. I'm also nervous about the "number one" designation in the title, we usually use a date if one is available (February 1997?) with the number in the notes. And "number one" rather than #1 is also unusual. I suggest you put the date in the title. 21:13, 27 April 2021 (EDT)

Hi, I updated the entry to our standard (names of the illustrators, only the front cover artist is credited for the cover - the back cover counts as interior art and has to be credited on its own), corrected the price, and added story lengths. Dear Leader Tales

I approved your submission for Dear Leader Tales, but you need to fix the designation for the cover. You used "...www.amazon.com/Dear-Leader-Tales-King/dp/1970087137/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=&asin=1970087137&revisionId=&format=4&depth=1". I have no idea where that came from. Going to Amazon for the pub, the cover art code is "...images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41iWEtBgTgL._SX326_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg". This is not an acceptable code for ISFDB, you need to delete the text between underlines go give "...images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41iWEtBgTgL.jpg". The Sixth Sense, Volume 1, Issue 3

I've put you submission on hold. With magazines, we use the date of issue in the title, eg. "The Sixth Sense, August 1996". Put the number, in this case, V1n3, in the notes. You cannot use the cover picture you did because ISFDB does not have permission to use such from the source you used. You can scan the cover if you own the magazine, or just leave that item out. Star Anthology #1

I approved your submission of Star Anthology magazine, but some work is needed. First, there is no page "inside back cover". If the covers are not numbered, then use "rep" for rear end papers; you would likewise use "fep" for the inside of the front cover. I question the number of pages you reported. If the magazine is stapled, the number of pages must be a multiple of four; if it is perfect bound, then 46 is possible, of course. Magazines sometimes don't number the covers, and that seems to be true of this one. But the number of pages must include the covers, so add 4 to the given number of pages (maybe you did, but there is no way I can tell). Many of the authors have canonical names that do not match the names you give, so be sure to make each article a variant with the canonical name of the author. You should enter the Goodreads website for the magazine under the "title web page", or if there is also a electronic version of the magazine, under the "pub web page". Finally, you have no notes. Appropriate content for the notes would be for example "Saddle-stapled, wraps" or "Page numbers do not include covers" or other information describing the pub. I approved your submission of this magazine, but you need to make the same sort of changes that were required for the above magazine. Also, "V3n5" should go in the notes, not the synopsis. And the insert should be put into the notes, something like, "There is a piece of artwork by Richard Dahlstrom inserted between the pages of the publication". If that artwork is related to the first story, you should also say that. "Hidebound" should be labelled as a "serial"; if you know which part of the serial (like part 4 of 4), mention that as well. I'm not sure how you know the story is a novella anyhow, since none of the other parts of the story are in the database. Bob 14:13, 11 May 2021 (EDT)

Cover Images

Cover image uploading is a two step process. Once you have uploaded a cover to the wiki, you need to click on the image (so you get just the image), copy that URL, and then edit the publication to add the URL to the publication. So for Image:VSTRNLTRRJ2021.jpg, you needed to enter this URL, in the Image URL field of this pub. I have taken care of this one.

Also, please ensure the largest dimension of the image is no more than 600 pixels. This is both for fair use licensing purposes and for server disk space. I resized this image. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 09:17, 19 December 2021 (EST)
