Welcome!

Hello, Amphi, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! BLongley 14:19, 30 Aug 2007 (CDT)

Crediting multi-artist cover

When a cover is credited to two or more artists, you should credit them individually on the publication record. Click the "Add Artist" button to reveal a blank field into which you can enter the next artist's full name. I changed the credit on this pub from "Leo & Diane Dillon" to "Leo Dillon" and "Diane Dillon". Thanks. Mhhutchins 18:56, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

I rejected the submission giving cover art credit for Stargate. Please resubmit giving each artist individual credit. Thanks. Mhhutchins 19:03, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for taking the time to correct me. I have resubmitted the info. ^_^ —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Amphi (talkcontribs) .

The Changeover

I accepted your submission changing the price of this pub from $11.95 to $12.95, but noticed that the LCCN gives the price as $11.95. Are you certain that your copy is a first printing and that the printed price is $12.95? Thanks. Mhhutchins 19:01, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

As near as I can tell from the listing data, I do have this exact edition. On the front flap it says $12.95. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Amphi (talkcontribs) .
I'll let the record stand as you updated it. Sometimes the LCCN record gives the price based on the publisher's preliminary data which may change upon actual publication. BTW, you should sign any comments entered into the Wiki with four tildes (~~~~). The system will then automatically give your user name and date to the comment. Also, it helps to add a colon (:) before your comment which indents it from the previous comment (each colon adds another indent). This helps separates comments by different editors. Thanks. Sunshine cover credit

I approved your edit of Sunshine, but then separated the cover credit for Masao Mukai and Photonica. As stated above, when a cover is credited to two or more artists, you should credit them individually on the publication record. Btw, are you sure the cover is credited to both? The 2004 edition credits only Masao Mukai. When things are not clear, there's always the note field where you can explain how things are stated/credited in the pub. --Willem H. 19:58, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

The book jacket says, "Jacket photo © Masao Mukai/Photonica" (there are no other "photos" on the bj other than the cover image) I took it to imply that Masao works for a company called Photonica. In which case Photonica would not be a secondary artist. Granted, this is an interpretation. I could be completely wrong.

Thanks for checking, and you're right. I deleted "Photonica" as cover artist, and added the credit as a note. The confusion comes from the presence of Photonica as artist for other covers. It's no big deal, there are worse things in the database. --Willem H. 13:49, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Sunshine publication date

Hi Amphi, I also have a copy of Sunshine. I would like to add the publication date from the copyright page, which says "First edition: October 2003." I would also like to add the Canada price (from inside front cover flap) of C$36.00. Does that match with your copy? BungalowBarbara 20:13, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

This editor is no longer active (I'll place a note at the top of his talk page about how to handle his primary verified records). If you're working from the pub in hand proceed to make the necessary changes. Thanks. Mhhutchins 20:31, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
