Welcome!

Hello, AkaSylvia, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- JLaTondre (talk) 22:29, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

Hello, World.

I'm trying to work out if it is reasonable to update my own record and if so, how to actually add short fiction.

If you are a published author of applicable genre works, then you are welcome to add your own publications. Please note that while we are pretty liberal on what we include, it does need to meet our inclusion criteria. Short fiction is added by adding the publication in which the short fiction appeared and including the short fiction within the publication contents. The help pages referenced in the welcome message above will provide instructions. The ISFDB has a number of conventions and it can take a bit to become familiar with all of them. I encourage you to read through the help. Also, feel free to ask questions (either here in response to this or if a new topic you can post questions at the ISFDB:Help desk‎). -- JLaTondre (talk) 22:29, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
Thank you! The publication (Crossed Genres) certainly seems to fit the bill but isn't listed. I shall do some more FAQ reading and see if I can make sense of it all. I appreciate the welcome and the help! AkaSylvia 22:26, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

"Silvia Spruck Wrigley"

Re: your note that "Silvia Spruck Wrigley is listed as a pseudonym but this was really just a misprint by a single publisher", there is a feature request to distinguish between misprints, alternative forms of an author's name (e.g. "Robert Heinlein" vs. "Robert A. Heinlein"), different transliterations (e. g. "Arkadij Strugatskij" vs. "Arkadi Strugatski") and outright pseudonyms. However, the feature hasn't been implemented yet and we go by whatever appears on the title page for now, creating pseudonyms as needed. That way if a user searches for "Silvia Spruck Wrigley", he or she will be redirected to your bibliography :) Ahasuerus 20:51, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
